(out fielders out of position) bug?

I'm not sure if this is a bug or not, but it seems that playing Out Fielders out of position (in other Out Field positions) has a very drastic (negative) effect on their fielding %. Granted, I understand that moving a player to another position in which he's not rated should have it's penalties, but an Out Fielder moving to another Out Field position???

One example from the online league I'm in is Carl Yastrzemski, who is rated "C" in RF, with a .978 Fielding Pct. He was moved to CF and in 13 games had 58 chances, and 51 errors, that's a .121 % (or something crazy like that). I can understand the range dropping significantly, but not the Fielding Pct, not that much anyway.

This also occurred with OOTP4 v.42b btw, but I was holding off to see how v.5 handled it, but there doesn't seem to be any kind of change.

I've not seen this issue in v4 or v5, if anything player at times played a bit too well "out of position" that I noticed. I played a 2ndbaseman in the OF for several seasons in an online league. He did not have an OF rating and never "learned" to play the OF according to the game yet always had a decent fielding % .950+. I'll keep looking but to this point have not seen it.

I wonder if it is a historical league issue?

Hmm, strange, so you've never seen this?

I know it has happened to a few other players in our league as well. I had moved Greg Luzinski last year from Left to Right and he ended up committing 30+ errors in just 14 games.

Was the league historical? If so that maybe a clue to when it happens. I don't really play historically.

Yes its a historical league. I am going to run a couple test sims later with historical and fictional leagues to see what happens. I will let you know. thanks
