history of Reliever X

League starts with a draft. Player X is a young, good-looking reliever.

2001, OOPT4, September call up.... salary starts with the $100,000 contracts.

2002, OOTP4, Promoted in June to stay... salary is in 2nd year at $100,000

2003, OOTP4 until August, then convert to OOTP5... salary is now $300,000 and shows "1yr auto resign"... would have been 3rd year of $100,000... but I understand that 100k now equals 300k

2004, OOTP5... salary is now $5,252,143 and he is listed as "1 Yr Arbitration"

So... after three years of the $100,000 contract he goes to $5.2 mil at the start of his 4th.

Is this a bug? a glitch? or a new world order?

Now that I understand that it is a new feature of the game (3 cheap years, not 5), am I also to understand that I could have negotiated a deal with him during his third season of major league experience to avoid arbitration?
