I have ootp4, and I've delicenced ootp4 but cannot obtain a licence for the new version of ootp5 i downloaded from the site... do I have to purchase ootp5? or is there a patch somewhere?

Yes, OOTP5 is a totally new and separate product, both can be run on your PC.
