***Please post all spelling/typos/grammar errors here****

I'm trying to collect all this stuff so we can get it corrected. We killed off a lot in beta, but there are still some that snuck through.

So post them here and we'll do our best to kill them.

Thanks

Scott

In the free agent signings emails:

"So far, this is the best offer I got so far."

I'd like to see:

So far, this is the best offer I've received.

The one that's bugging me is this:

Never Pinch Hit for him: No, pinch hit for if necessary OR Yes, never pinch hit for this player

this seems far more wordy and confusing than neccesary...wouldn't this be better?

Pinch hit for him: Yes, if neccesary OR Never

Cool, a pedant thread.

Here are some that I found in the news headlines. Recommended fixes are in parentheses. More to follow.

---
Clyde Bushnell fires NO-NO against Montreal

MONTREAL - Montreal's bats were sleeping. And Philadelphia's
Clyde Bushnell gave them no chance at all to wake up.

(should be "Montreal's bats were sleeping, and Philadelphia's Clyde...." etc.)

---
George White out for full season

NEW YORK (A) - New York (A)'s third baseman George
White suffered a season ending injury when he was
struck by a pitch from Seattle's Josh
Constantino. He collapsed in pain and was helped
off the field. Broken Wrist was the diagnosis after
x-rays were taken in a near by hospital. The message
shocked team mates and team officials. This year White
drove in 24 and scored 15 runs while batting .297 with
10 longballs. He's 8th in the American League in RBIs
and 3rd in homeruns!

('near by' should be 'nearby', and 'team mates' should be 'teammates')

---
Orestes Torres quiets Seattle bats with shutout

NEW YORK (A) - It was a great day for New York (A)'s
right-hander Orestes Torres.
The 26-year old recorded his first career shutout,
a 2-hitter, against Seattle on Saturday. 'Hey, that's
my job! Everytime I take the mound I give the best
I can. And my best stuff was too much for them today.'
Torres (3-2) struck out 7 and walked 2, throwing 68
of 113 pitches for strikes. The hitting star for New
York (A) was shortstop Kenneth Lundeen,
he finished 1 for 3, hitting a homerun, with 3 RBI.
New York (A) improved it's record to 14-16, scoring
6 runs on 4 hits.

('it's' in the last sentence should be 'its')

---
Josh Constantino blanks Baltimore with a 2-hitter

BALTIMORE - Baltimore's hitter were dominated by Seattle's
Josh Constantino. He gave up
just 2 hits in recording his 2nd shutout of the season.

('hitter' should be 'hitters')

Another quick one I found on a reliever's scouting report.

"Jorge Desouza will shut out opposing hitters, and locka game down."

'locka' should be 'lock a'

In the pbp ... I don't recall exactly... but on some fly balls it always says the outfielder is going back ... then they make a catch at their shoetops.

That just doesn't mesh ... as traditionally, if you are going backwards you aren't going to catch a ball by your shoe tops.

That's usually reserved for coming in..

No big deal, but it just paints a funny picture of a guy going back, and then turning around and making a shoestring catch ...

More scouting report typos:

---
"Gabriel Romano is the kind of guy most manager's would love to stick in the middle of the order"

('manager's' should be 'managers')

---
"Carl Hairston may be one of the top second baseman for many years to come"

('baseman' should be 'basemen')

---
"Adolfo Brown will be a fantastic shortstop. Possibly a middle of the lineup hitter,
with a chance to really dominate pitchers. He is a burner, and will also steals a few
bases along the way."

('steals' should be 'steal')

---
"David Dale has a shot to play in the majors, but it isn't likely he has what it
takes to be an everyday player. He's certainly not the fastest guy on the roster,
but he's smart on the basepaths, and steals more bases then you might expect."

('then' in the last sentence should be 'than')

---
"Samuel will not walk many. Samuel will gets a good share of K's during the season."

('gets' should be 'get')

---
"Leon Anderson should be a decent reliever, provided you keep your expecations realistic."

('expecations' should be 'expectations')

When Sammy hit his 500th home run...

"It's no secret that he will once be in the Hall of Fame!"

Should either eliminate the word "once" or change to read "he will one day be in the Hall of Fame!"

Another headline typo:

Albert Tapper (SEA) will miss full season
SEATTLE - Seattle's leftfielder Albert
Tapper will miss the rest of the season. He injured himself running the bases in the game between Seattle and Cleveland. The injury didn't seem to be serious the moment is happened.

(second-to-last word should be 'it', not 'is')

another one

One found in the new feature (also mentioned in a kudos post)

When you sign a player to a new contract..

it says "X year extention" instead of extension

(this is under length of contract, when you sign an arb eligible player to a 1-year contract)

I can't recall the exact story, but under one of the milestone articles, it says "firends" instead of "friends"

News article for career milestone (200th hit in this case)

"Cincinnati's first baseman Jake Beckley had already some highlights in his career, and today he added another one..."

Should read: "...Beckley already had some...."

Similarly, "successful" is often misspelled.

Particularly, "This month was a succesful one...."

whenever a Pitcher wins player of the week award, this is what is printed (gamesgames) and, it split it up in the wrong place (o..n)

Won Player of the Week award o
n 4/19/2004, winning 2 gamesgames with a 0.56 ERA...

edit: forgot to put, this is in the Player card, the news & Team news displays it correctly

Actually, I'm kind of sad that you all fixed the "Dogout" message on the throwing error from the outfield.

Always kind of heard a drunk announcer saying that in my head when it happened.

This one has been around since OOTP2: "sadest" should be "saddest". Look it up!

Player of the Week news - sometimes there's no team name in the headline or the message, sometimes the AL team name is repeated for the NL player.

Sean Casey is up to the plate.

He already has 4 hits and1 RBI!

and1 needs to be seperated, unless he endorses and1 shoes/clothing.
