Help! Lockup - P Pinch-Hitter

The screen capture shows where I'm stuck. I wanted to pinch hit Roger Clemens for Jake Peavy seeing as he was rated 4 versus lefties and I had no other right handed batters on the bench. So I go ahead and make the switch, yet Jake Peavy still gets the AB. Minor problem... But then, seeing as Roger is in my rotation, I didn't want him to pitch in the game so I went to put a new pitcher in the game and it tells me that Roger must face at least one batter. Now, you can see by the screen that Roger no longer is assigned a "P" next to his name so he's no longer the pitcher, but I can't substitute anyone else in, because he has yet to face a batter.

Is there any way at this point to "assign" Roger as the pitcher? I've tried re-dragging his name to the lineup spot to no avail and trying him at different positions, but it will not let the game continue until he can pitch to one batter. I get the "Information" popup stating that I have an incomplete lineup.

Help!

THe only way to PH using a pitcher is to "change his position" using the editor.
