Generating Errors
I have version 5.1 and the GForce roster downloads. Version 5.1 was an original purchase not a dowload of a patch. I wasn't getting the error message at first, but after starting a manager career and making modifications to my roster, I am now getting the infamous "OOTP.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close" message. I'm managing San Diego and it crashes everytime I offer a contract entension to Trevor Hoffman (maybe because he's on the Disabled List; it doesn't crash when I attempt to offer it to anyone else. Notice I said "attempt" since none of their pending free agents are worth extending; but I digress.) Also, when I call up "Top Minor League Prospects" and try to play an Exhibition game right after the first pitch, the message comes up. I'm not even bothering to try a league game because I'm sure it'll lock up there too. I'm running Windows NT and got more than what is required including 32 GB of free hard drive space. I'm running 16-bit color. Here is what I have done so far:
1. Upgraded to DirectX 9.0. 2. Changed everything in the league directories and unchecked "read-only." 3. I've turned off in-game sound. 4. I've turned 3D mode off. 5. Downloaded and installed Windows Service Pack. Is there anything else I can do or do I just need to wait for the next patch? |

I made one trade, picked up a couple of free agents, and moved a few players between the major and minor leagues. No, I didn't go to the manager mode editor because when I try, I get the error message.

I'm not sure if this is what you're referring to. I've tried going to the Manager Screen when I'm at the League Standings screen either from the League menu and the shortcut at the bottom and it's crashed both times. Please help as this game right now is unplayable.

Update you sound card drivers and try it. Also, I am really not certain that the game will run on NT, I don't think it has before due to direct X issues.

I don't see this happening "across the board", have you tried installing the game in a new directory and copying the leagues to that game and trying it? If the problem continues it is possible that it is system specific(something in your system that is conflicting or the league could have problems), if you get the problem after reinstalling try with a different type league.

The exact same problem happened to my friend who recently bought the game. It works wonderfully on my system, and I spent most of last nght trying to figure out the problem with him, but to no avail. I tried to same steps as the person above, without result. Any idea what's causing the problem?
