Runtime Error, Cyclic Redundancy Check
OK, every time I load a certain league file, the loading freezes about 20% through and after a while, a box pops up that says something like "Runtime Error, abnormal program termintion" and OOTP5 closes. I looked at some other posts on the subject and found that reinstalling OOTP5 could fix the problem. So I went ahead and attempted to copy/paste the league folder to the desktop, so it wouldn't get deleted on an uninstall. However, I got the following error: "Cannot copy players: Data error (cyclic redundancy check)." I assume the two errors are somehow related and I guess I may lose this league file for good

Ok, what is the "name" of the league you are trying to copy? Is it the entire "xxxx.lg" folder or just some files out of it you are trying to copy?

I was trying to copy the entire "IBL.lg" folder. I assumed that "players" in the error message was referring to the players.dat file in the .lg folder.

If you were to just copy over the whole folder and not "overwrite" another it should be ok. You should be able to even overwrite if it is the same exact folder and league.

This may seem like a silly thing, but have you rebooted the system since OOTP crashed? I've seen it happen where somebody attempts to copy a file that a program had been trying to access when it crashed, and it thought the file was in use until a reboot.
If that doesn't work, it means that the file is, probably, corrupted...it's failing a CRC check, which tests for file integrity. Since it's also crashing OOTP when it tries to load, it's more likely to be a corrupt file, sadly. --Eriq. |

Okay....everytime I load the game and click on a Scheduled game to play it, boom, I get the error and it crashes to Desktop. Do I have a corrupt file? Do I have to reinstall the game? How do I do that? Is there a way to keep my League that I was playing?

Ya know, now that I think about it....I started a Season(2003)and played 1 week with real Rosters. I then decided to try the Manager thing and became the Manager of the Expos. Could that have done anything? Trying to manage a Team after starting a Season?

I was having the same problem and after unliscensing and re-installing several times I kept getting the same runtime error. I would get through my lineups and try to start the game, get the runtime error and get booted back to desktop. I finally figured out that the problem was my depth charts weren't filled up. I fixed it and haven't had any problems since. I hope this helps because I sympathize with you about how frustrating it is.
