Years of service bug?

I noticed something yesterday in my online leagues files....I understand starting off that this could totally be due to our begining roster set, and conversion from version 4 to 5(I dont know if the league was on 3 as I recently joined).
When the league started out there were "real players" some in the majors and some in the minors....

Now that its 5-6 seasons into the league(we just converted to 5.0 before this season) some of the guys(real players) that were in the low minors when the league formed are now finally in the majors. This is the first season with the arbitration rules.
What i understand to happen is once a guy is in the majors for 3 seasons, after his 3rd year he becomes eligible for arbitration. after years 1 and 2 he is auto resign.

Well in our league it appears that "real" players who have been up in the majors for 1 season have "1 year" listed on their "years in the majors" column on the team salary report under the "front office" section of the game. Generated guys, meaning guys who were drafted in an amatuer draft, who have also just been promoted this season have "0 years" listed on their "Years in the majors" column.

Case in point, there is one team that this year brought up a Pitcher and CF...for both this is the first time they have ever been up in the major leagues. I am 100% positive of this fact. The pitcher, who happens to be a Baltimore Farmhand named Richard Stahl, has one year of service and the CF has none.
Then there is another guy on the team who was a draft pick who was promoted 1 season ago who has the same amount of "Years in the Majors" as the Rookie Pitcher.

for reference sake the league i am talking about is the CFBL, found at 66.149.8.92/CFBL

What I would like is someone who is in a league that is still promoting farmhands from the begining of the league(would have to be a league in the early part..say 2004 or 5), to check and see if you also have this type of problem.

Thank you.

Steve.

This was a known bug earlier on. Various leagues that went from ootp4 to ootp5 ran into this type of problem that affected pretty much all players in the league across the board...

Two pieces of good news though for you:

1) It effects the entire league, so one team isn't more at risk than another.

2) New players generated from here on out will not have this problem.

Remember though that most of these players in ootp4 only had 5 auto-renew years as opposed to the 6 now that come in ootp5 in the form of auto-renew/arbitration years. So the players will not hit free agency any sooner than they would have in ootp4, just arbitration will come a year earlier than new ootp5 rookies..

(hope that wasn't too confusing, for more info, a search on service years or arbitration bug should return many hits on past reports of this and info on what most leagues did).. most appear to have just left it as is rather than edit the entire league.

Actually.. during early beta testing we ran into this... and we found that the instances that this is happening is....

Players that have been edited by the commish. What happens is the commish will edit the ammy draft.. or the FA pool.. to make the player younger.. with different ratings.. thus.. the player enters the league as a youngster.. when he is not supposed to be one.

Right, it will happen anytime a new player is manually entered into the game I have seen first hand (players not auto-generated)..

In this case though, it was because of the ootp4 -> ootp5 migration causing it.
