I haven't had any problems with OOTP3 or OOTP4 until the last two games I played. After those games ended, my computer froze up on "SIMULATING MINOR LEAGUES" and I had to reboot.
When I went back to the game, everything seemed more or less OK. I was able to sim out the day and move on. But it's kind of annoying having to reboot and I'm afraid it may eventually end up corrupting some of my data or something. My computer is an HP Pavilion with a Celeron 667 mHz and 256 megs of RAM, running on Windows ME. I know that's kind of bottom-of-the-line, but I haven't had any trouble before. Any thoughts? --Louie

What time period were these games? If you are getting close to the trading deadline, its possible the game might have been processing the needs and wants and who to put on the block?
Did you change anything in the game or on the system recently (before you had the problem)? |

Thanks for answering.
It's late April, 10-11 games into the season (I converted from OOTP3 late in the previous season). I haven't made any changes in anything that I can think of. BTW, I have about 6 gigs of HD space available and I'm not running any other programs in the background. For now, I've disabled the Simulate Minors option. --Louie

If its working without the simulate minors option on, then I think its safe to assume that the problem is in the minor leagues somewhere... is there a chance that one of the minor league teams has a player in the lineup that wasn't assigned a position by you? (Maybe you changed someones position, and that effected another player, by taking away his position and so he's sitting in the lineup without a position and causing the game to choke)

Aha! Exactly so. I don't know how I did it, but somehow I got a couple of players displaced from their positions.
ScottVib, you are El Hombre. Thanks a lot. (Yes, most of the problems we have with this game are due to us and not the game. I continue to prove that to myself). --Louie

This post as well as others brings up a good point - and question for Markus.... can code be added to check all lineups before each day to make sure these issues aren't present before it tries to play the games? I know it would probably delay things a bit... or maybe a button somewhere that would check this kind of thing only when you asked it to....
