player disappeared 2nd time through league??

This is my second time through a 1980's solo league. I was looking forward to picking up the same catcher- Richard Bitting, that I picked up in '83 at the age of 27 during my first go around.

To my suprise, I could not find him anywhere. I think he originally came from Baltimore. I searched the net and found no info on a Richard Bitting. I am using the Lahman's dbase (v4).

Can any one help? This is a mystery to me.

I have never seen this in v4 at all, nor have I heard it from any of the testers and we have several that play historicals all the time.

I'm confused as well. The only difference is that the first time around was on STB (went through 1984). Then bought OOTP4 and started over. I know Richard Bitting was in the game (catcher) the first time. I have the print outs.

I wonder if, since it is the same player if there might not be something wrong with him?

I will be SO embarrased if he had a career ending injury. I will check when I get home tonight.

I hope I won't be flogged too severe for asking before looking. :-)

Ok, need a little help here. I have the basic files loaded here at work (minus box scores, news, etc...)

Bitting does not show up in a player search. I'm in 1984 and it seems he came on board in 1981. If he had a career ending injury, where would I find him?
