Downloaded the original file on the 1st, and then the patch on the 4th. Unzipped the patch into my OOTP4 folder. When I start it up, the version does not state 4.0a.
I question this because when I d/l the game for my laptop on the 6th, my laptop version does state 4.0a. Did the patch take on my PC? Should it read version 4.0a? I simmed some games and it looked like 1st inning runs were being recorded as earned. What do you guys think? |

I agree. When the game starts, when the window pops up that shows the OOTP4 logo, below it will say:
Welcome to OOTP4 (Version 4.0a) Registered Copy of: Joe Schmoe Order ID: xxxxxxxxxx If it doesn't say the '(Version 4.0a)' then I believe the patch was not installed.

Just to finish up this thread:
At OOTP4 website, on the banner at the top of the screen, there is a DOWNLOAD button you can access which will take you to the patch plus two sites for the entire OOTP4 d/l plus OOTP3 and OOTP2. This is where I had all of my d/l problems. I d/l the patch again and unzipped again with no success. I decided to uninstall and d/l the whole game again, from this same area. This time I d/l over 10 megs when the d/l said it was complete. Obviously it wasn't. I then went to the other d/l area with the 5 OOTP4 logos and d/l the whole version again with no problems. I think the problem lies in the d/l area where you go in from the skinny banner at the top of the page. Wow. Does this make sense? <img src="confused.gif" border="0"> |

Hmm...that shouldn't make a difference. I guess you were having the problem that some were having with the incomplete downloads. Did it work when you re-downloaded it?
If not, try clearing your cache and downloading again.

Yes, it did finally work.
Kinda strange, though. I decided to uninstall, unlicense, and start anew. Well I uninstalled then went to my Control Panel, double clicked my Elicense, right clicked my OOTP4, selected unlicense but it would not unlicense. I had used 2 licenses, 1 for my PC, 1 for my laptop, so I decided to proceed since I had 1 left. I d/l the whole version again, clicked on setup, and everything was there, my Rolen league, my stadiums, my facepack. And it stated version 4.0a. Suffice to say, I was happy, just a little confused. When something goes right for me, I usually don't question it, but I did spend a little time trying to figure out how this happened. Never figured it out. I am not a computer wiz, by any means, but I have to say, this program is a breeze to work with. I imported a OOTP3 league on my laptop, I thought for sure I would screw it up. No problems. What a great feeling when something works that you do not have a lot of experience in. |
