Angry Alt/Tab crashes OOTP V4

Ive just bought OOTP4and am running it in Win XP. As the manual is HTML based I thought it would be a good idea to Alt-TAB between it and the game so I could learn whats going on. Unfortunately whenever I do OOTP goes into a black screen and will not recover. I have to CTRL-ALT-DEL and start over. Is this anything to do with the 100% CPU usage problem mentioned in an earlier thread?

Any ideas? Is there a manual version available in .doc format or similar?

Try running OOTP with 3D Disabled and Full Screen Mode disabled. Alt-Tab works fine for me with those settings.

I have had problems Alt-Tabbing when playing a game. Always worked fine when in the regular screen. The one thing that worked for me in OOTP3 (haven't tried it yet in v4) is instead of using Alt-Tab, click the minimize button in the upper right hand corner instead. OOTP3 never crashed when I did that instead of alt-tab. Keep in mind I'm not guaranteeing anything, just suggesting that you may want to try it.

Ruff,

This is basically an XP/fullscreen mode issue I think.

Unfortunately I have the exact problem. You're running XP, so you really need to run it in full-screen mode so the scrolling works, but running in full-screen takes away your ability to alt-tab or minimize. Kind of a double edged sword. Or a catch 22 or some other good cliche.

I would love to see this addressed. I usually like to sim and surf the web at the same time, but since I've upgraded to XP I can't do this (unless I choose to give up the scroll at the bottom of the screen). Maybe in the next patch?? Pretty please?

Thanks for the input guys. It works fine with the 3D off etc. I'll just run with that until I get the hang of it.
