Question Substitution logic

I'm not sure if this belongs here, but...

I start to play the game and have the computer sim several innings at a time. Late in the game there is a pinch hitter for my starting CF. I've got a good defensive CF on the bench who is listed in the depth chart for CF. But I just traded for and got a DH who also is rated at CF but has a poor range and is not in the depth chart.

I have the lead so the better fielding but poorer hitting OF should be the defensive substituion. No?

It's not a bug, but a deficiency in the AI - I just posted about a similar deal under Feedback. From what I've seen, I have doubts that the AI even considers defensive subs when they're listed on the depth chart.

I would say it's the other way around. Unless it's on the depth chart, AI won't consider it.

I didn't mean to imply that the AI makes defensive subs when it's not on the depth chart - basically, it doesn't seem like it makes defensive subs at all, or considers defense and game situation when pinch hitting.

I think that's the way it should be. But in my situation the DH wasn't on the depth chart but was rated at the position and was dropped into CF even though the better fielding CF that was on the depth chart was available.
