Markus I didn't see this addressed in your next patch, perhaps you missed this, or don't consider it as important for the next patch? I feel that the League Leader Sorting bug is important for those of us that like to save the stats year after year. Anyway here are some of the posts
during the last couple of days about other concerns. Basically I would just like to at least get a response from either You, or OOTP1 that these issues you are aware of. ================================================= Sorry Markus, but I have to report some more bugs, in League Leaders sorting. While it's true you did fix what I was complaining about I guess I should have done the first time what I'm doing now. Below is a diagram that will look something like the League Leaders Setup. The parts that are working are listed as "Good" the parts that aren't working correctly are marked "Bad" Hopefully this will show you all the areas, so the League Leaders can work correctly once and for all. Again I take the blame for not doing this the first time cause then you might have been able to fix it in your first patch without doing it again. ================================================= [code] League Leaders Pitching Direction: Ascending Overall: Good Show Top: 100 Overall2: Good League: Combined Overall3: Good Qualify: Starters vs Lhb/Rhb: Bad Players: All Players Weekly/Monthly: Bad Home/Road: Bad Minor League: Bad Streak/Records: Bad ================================================ Batting All Direction: Ascending Overall: Bad Show Top: 100 Overall2: Bad League: Combined Weekly/Monthly: Bad Qualify: Yes Home/Road: Bad Players: All Players C/L+Risp+Pinch: Bad Minor League: Bad Streaks/Records: Bad </pre><hr></blockquote> ================================================ Well that's pretty much it, to be honest I didn't even check out fielding in either ascending or descending order. I also didn't check out all the categories in Descending order. Mainly cause from my past experiences. Descending order seemed to work correctly. Also it seems that wherever the problems are, the minor leaguers are in the list. I know you already rushed out a patch and need a break so maybe when you are ready for more patching you can really go over all areas of the League Leaders sorting all the various options in Descending/Ascending order. We All appreciate the hard work you have/are doing to make this the greatest baseball simulation game period! ================================================= [quote]Originally posted by Blind Jerry: <strong>Batting needs to be descending to work. Otherwise you just get O's.</strong><hr></blockquote> Not quite Jerry, for instance if I want to see what player has struck out the least, that played enough games to qualify. Then I have to sort the stats in Ascended order. If I want to see what player had the lowest batting average, or slugging average that had enough bats to qualify then they all have to be sorted in Ascended order. Plus there should be some data in there cause after all by sorting by only qualifed players then they have to have some kind of BA. or SA. or at least a couple of strikeouts. ================================================= I'm curious about the option to have the game sim a week at a time? I notice that if you tell the game to sim for a week it always stops on Monday? Was the game designed to do this? I figure if it's Friday, and you tell the game to sim a week, then it should sim till next Friday. What I think would be a great option is to tell the game to sim up to a certain date. The advantage to this would be, say you have a big series coming up, but want to skip some games up until that series. Anyone have any thought on this? ================================================= [quote]Originally posted by DFW Razorback: <strong>I've been playing as the Rangers, and I recall Pudge catching one at the screen behind home plate.</strong><hr></blockquote> Well this is good that you've had this happen. However, since we now have the addition of foul balls. I would like to see this area tweaked more where there are more foul outs. So as to make it as realistic as real baseball. In real baseball there are some foul outs practically every game. Foul outs to the catcher are the most common. I've played about 30 games manually and haven't seen a foul out to the catcher yet! So hopefully this can be addressed in the future. ================================================= It seems that 80-90% of close plays always result in outs? Am I off about this or is this about right for others playing the game? I think if that percentage of close plays resulting in outs could be brought down, then Close plays would be more exciting! ================================================= One last thing some of the others and I have posted about the possibility of having sortable "Team Stats" where we could sort the stats like the player stats, also to be able to compare how each team has done against other teams. Like you have it for players being able to see how they played against other teams.

So the only way to make a higher percentage of close plays result in the runner being safe would be to cut down on the total number of close plays, which would make the game as a whole less exciting, since more results would be clear-cut up front. |

I find it hard to get excited about a close play in the game, if you already know that 8 - 9 times out of 10, it will result in an out. This great game describes everything in text, so we have to use our imaginations. That's why I believe there should be tons of text variations. This way you can never be sure what is going to happen. That's what I call exciting!

umm, catchers catch foul balls. its happened plenty of times for me. you probably have just ended up on the bad end of how random they occur. but it happens. as for close plays, i think they are close b/c the idea is to get a player out. so announcers speak for the defense most of the time. since it is the fielder with theball to the firstbaseman. the play is close b/c the runner almost beat it out. its never the runner is running down hard...its always the fielder moves in on the ball, he has it, throw to first, etc. so OUT is the perception, being "a close play" is making that OUT almost a SAFE. get it? so i think it makes sense if you look at it in announcing terms.

YankeePride, so you are saying that you are playing OOTP4, and you are having PLENTY of
foul outs to the catcher? Is this with the 4.0a patch? If it is then damn you must have a better working version then me! Can anyone else confirm if they are getting plenty, or even a few foul outs to the catcher playing the game manually. [ March 08, 2002: Message edited by: Night2000 ]</p>

I can't say for sure, but if my memory serves me well, I usually see about one per game. Some games have none, some have a couple. It seems like there is a decent amount of randomness to me. Although, I haven't played that many games where I can make a judgment call on how accurate it is.

my fault night2000, i forgot about my post here, lol. but yea i am gettin alot of pop ups to the catcher. and this is after the patch. now i'm not gettin THAT many! its a reasonable amount. it could be maybe a bit higher, but i'm not gonna complain b/c then i'll see way too many. i think its just right...however, i must say that the last few games havent had too many to the catcher, so like i said before, its a random thing and maybe right now you just arent fallin under the high end of the spectrum.

YankeePride & HellFrozeOver,
Well I'm glad to hear you guys are getting foul out to catchers! I've only gotten one in about 30 games played manually. That's why I've been so concerned about it. However maybe it's like YankeePride says, and I've just gotten the lower end of the spectrum. My season is almost over and it was imported from OOTP3. Maybe I'll see more foul outs when I start my next season. Wellthanks guys for the info.

hey not a problem...are you at least getting foul balls hit back behind the catcher? b/c i get alot of those and on occasion those fall into the catchers mitt. well maybe your next season will put up more pitches fouled back OR maybe your hitters ARE soooo quick with the bat that there is no such thing as fouling off a pitch??? hehe. i dont know wat to tell you...goodluck with that

I get plenty of foul balls to my catcher that 99% of the time, are out of play. Maybe his arms are too short!
