In my fictional league, 37-year-old SS Billy Trombetta went undrafted, then signed a minor-league contract with Thunder Bay in April.
He spent the entire season in the minors. He wasn't even called up when the rosters expanded in September. Thunder Bay's shortstop got hurt in game #161. He was put on the DL (a real team wouldn't do that) and Trombetta was called up from the minors to replace him. The regular season ended and Thunder Bay went back to a 25-man roster for the playoffs. Trombetta was included and played a couple times in the LCS and World Series. He shouldn't have been eligible for the postseason. Other comments: 1) My fictional league didn't have a Rookie of the Year in one of the two leagues. I'm assuming that is because it was the first year. 2) Everyone keeps saying "To get playoffs, you need two leagues" like that makes sense. I consider that a rather major bug - why wouldn't a one-league, multi-division setup have playoffs? I wasted a lot of time setting up a league only to get to the end of the season and have it end with two division winners sitting on their hands. |

I'm pretty sure that a lot of people don't think that needing two leagues for playoffs makes sense, just that they accept it as one of the (what I believe to be few) limitations of the game. I agree that this needs to be fixed, but I suppose until then I can deal with having to split up my one league into two leagues.
