Sorry if I am posting too many tech support things recently, but I recently found this forum and was desperately in need of a help source. There are a few problems that I had with my ootp4 and windows XP. First off, is there any way to fix the switch user bug? As most know, in home edition of xp, you can switch users, in a sense saving all your open windows. When I do that with ootp4, I cannot get my game back when I try to log on again. It is just a white screen, and I lose all my unsaved data. That means that if leave for more than five minutes I lose the game. Is there any way to fix this without turning off powersaver and tripling the electricity bill?
Also, doesn't the news ticker usually move? I have seen other threads on this, and they all claim that if you play with a "full screen" then you will have no trouble with the ticker. It just so happens that my ootp4 is defaultly set to full screen, and there is no minimize button. Does it just not work? Thanks. You don't know how convenient it is to have a free and quick customer service for a game.

I don't think it's actually a bug, just how the software works. If you are going to logoff you need to save and quit the game. Switch user is a nifty OS feature but I would imagine there is some software (like OOTP4/STB2003) that will not be compatable with that type of OS use. Hopefully a regular XP user can elaborate on this further. [quote]... if leave for more than five minutes I lose the game. About the news ticker issue: Sorry, not sure what you mean, the news ticker works for most users. About the full screen thing, if you run the program "Graphics Setup.exe" you can disable Full Screen mode if that's what you want to do, then you can minimize the app. |

About the ticker thing, I found the thread which discussed it (you might already have seen it). <a href="http://www.ootpbb.com/board/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic&f=4&t=000166" target="_blank">ChrisH's thread</a>
my problem is that when I bought the game, it was already in full screen. All these people are claiming that full screen will make the ticker move across the screen, but mine won't.

I had problem with ticker in windowed mode and winXP.
The ticker overlapped the close/minimize buttons. The problem disappeared when i reduced the size of the font in the window bar, thus reducing the height of the bar, too. |
