Post Runtime error?

Help--I'm a rookie to the game(great game so far),and have played two historical seasons (everything worked perfectly until now)and all of the sudden I keep getting runtime error with most moves I attempt to make such as opening a season or creating new season. I have tryed rebooting numerous times. I'm thinking I may have to uninstall the game and then reinstall, but if I can get any help at all, any suggestions, I'd appreciate it.Thanks.

Moose,

Have you deleted anything or moved anything around?

Steve, Sorry to be a bother. I did notice that I might have deleted my Career 2002 lg. folder, is this a problem, I am still getting run time error and the game wont function. Should I uninstall the game and re-install, and if so exactly how do I go about re-installing. I have my order ID #. Thanks for your help.

P.S., I have also deleted a couple of other leagues that I wasn't interested in saving(just season replays that I didn't want taking up hard drive space). I read one of your other tech posts to backfire83, stating that if you are going to delete a league folder to make sure that the league you want to delete is not the one that the game will try loading the next time you open it.

Inside the directory where OOTP is installed you should have a file called setup.dat. If you open this in notepad you should see the name of one of your leagues. In order for OOTP to start correctly, you have to have a league folder with the same name as the league listed in setup.dat.

I haven't played in some time and would like to get back to playing the game. I am going to uninstall and than reinstall but as I am not a computer guy could someone walk me through these steps to ensure that I do them correctly. Thanks and I appreciate your help.

I would try installing the game to a different directory than the "default" when you running the "ootp4setup.exe" and then see if it works ok.

My guess is that you have deleted a league, and that league was the one last open in OOTP. If you quit OOTP and delete the last used league and no longer have the Career 2002.lg, you will crash. To resolve this, create a folder called "Lastusedleaguename.lg", substituting the name of the last used league for 'lastusedleaguename', then open OOTP, load a different league, quit, and then delete that one.

Just my idea.
