Post ROY problems

I know this has been discussed on previous boards, but I never paid much attention until it happened to me (typical, huh?)

I'm missing some rookie awards. Here's the deal...

Fictional career, 2 leagues:
season 1- both ROY awards given (Ironically, this was the season I felt ROY awards were undeserved)
season 2- only one ROY given
season 3- NO ROY given in either league!

Is there a minimum AB/IP requirement for ROY or is this a bug? I can see where, in a given season, no rookies accumulate a lot of AB/IP, but I thought a ROY award was given to SOMEONE every year, even if no rookies played full-time.

Pretty sure that you have to have players who qualify in number of atbats and or inning pitched. I do not know what those are off hand.

I have seen this too. It is supposed to be awarded in each season, but I believe there is a minimum number of at bats. In the early years of a fictional league, it isn't uncommon to have no rookies make a significant impact after the first season (in OOTP). Another factor is if you are running a shorter schedule, you MUST generate a schedule within the game, prior to inputing (if you desire) a custom schedule.

I screwed this up in my league and despite the fact that I was only playing a 100 game season in the first few years of my league, the game calculated the magic numbers, batting average and ERA requirements on a 162 game schedule. When I expanded I made sure to do it right and now the game recognizes the new 128 game schedule my league is playing. That should also help the rookies as their at bat requirement will be lowered.

Hummm.... can you explain this in a different way? I think I understand what your saying - but not sure. My UBA plays a 124 game schedule and I'm wondering if I did it right ?

What I believe he is saying is that you need to go into the edit schedule screen to set your schedule length. You do this by clicking on create schedule and input the proper number of games you want your season to have. When you input this number the game uses it as a basis for calculating minimum at bats and innings pitched required to qualify for an award. You can then clear the schedule and create your own custom schedule if you like or leave the generated schedule as is.

If you fail to do this and just clear the schedule and type your own in the game will still base its minimum requirements for awards on 162 games....even if you manually create just a 100 game schedule. Therefore it will be difficult to get many, if any qualifiers for season awards.

Hopefully that explains things further.

AH !! I see. SInce I simply let the game generate a 124 game schedule - guess I'm ok.

Yes Henry, you should be ok. Tiger Fan got it right. If you just go to the schedule editor screen and simply input (by hand) a shorter schedule the game will still calculate things based on 162, but if you enter the length first, then enter your schedule you will be ok.

What everybody's trying to say is, do you want Juan Samuel fighting it out with Willie Wilson for every single award?
