Unable to open newly purchased game

When I get to certain point after attempting tp urchse I get this message: An invalid parameter was passed to the returning function, or the object was not in the state that permitted the function to be called. This value is equal to the E_INVALIDARG standard COM return value.
Then I hit "OK" and get this screen
"Error InitDirectDraw"
Please advise. I have purchased the game for my son on his computer in Kansas using my bank debit card from Ohio. I used his email address but my mailing address and phone number. If you respond this morning to so to mthaynes@nqks.com, otherwise respond to d2graham@msmisp.com

I would try contacting Via Tech with your reciept information (should have been emailed to you and is saved as a text file in the OOTP directory when you are succesful in completing the purchase). They may be able to help you better than any of us here on the board.

Sounds like it could be a driver error, do you know if direct X7 or higher is installed on this machine? Also, make certain that the video card drivers have been updated recently.
