run time error
I tried restoring an old league into the game. The result was the following message:
Run Time Error: Program: . . . OGRAMFILES\OUT OF THE PARK BASEBALL DEVELOPMENTS\OOTP5\OO75.EXE abnormal program termination I tried uninstalling the game and then re-downloading, but I'm still getting the same error. What should I do? THANKS! |

If you transferred files via CD then ALL of the files are now “read only” in their properties. Highlight all of the files, right click and select properties, UNCHECK “read-only” then save and that should solve the problem.

error messages
Thanks . . . I followed your directions but the read only was unchecked. I left it as unchecked and also unchecked archive. Now the error message I'm getting is:
OOTP5 has caused an error in KERNEL32.DLL The game will now close. Any advice? Thanks again! |

Well, the game does come up on the screen. But when I attempt to do something like set up a league, click on a team, or basically any other game function or option . . . I get this message:
OOTP5 has caused an error in KERNEL32.DLL The game will now close. Thanks again for your help. |

I did download the file from the OOTP site. Should I just delete everything (the game, my backup, the Lahman file) and download it again? If that doesn't work, I guess I'll just buy OOTP6.

ootp5 error continues
Well, I gave Out of the Park 6 a try, but it had too many errors and problems for now. I unlicensed it and got a refund. I'm back attempting to get my OOTP5 league back up and running. It's a historical league that was about to begin the 1920 season (the league began in 1903). I had to download OOTP5 from the server again. My problems all started when I attempted to "restore" my league off the CD I had saved it on. I've tried all the strategies you have suggested from above but I'm still getting the following error:
OOTP5 has caused an error in KERNEL32.DLL The game will now close. This has been a very frustrating problem. I love your games, but am frustrated my the crashes and errors. Thanks again for your help. |

I just did a search of microsoft and found out some of the possible causes of this error. I'd suggest that you take a look at these and take any steps that you can to examine these areas to see if one of them may solve the problem:
Damaged swap file File allocation damage Damaged password list Damaged or incorrect version of the Kernel32.dll file Damaged registry Hardware, hot CPU, over clocking, broken power supply, RF noise, ground bounce, or bad hard disk controller BIOS settings for Wait states, RAM timing, or other BIOS settings Third-party software that is damaged or incorrectly installed .dll files that are saved to the desktop Non-existent or broken Temp folder A control panel (.cpl) file is damaged Incorrect or damaged hardware driver Incorrectly installed printer drivers or HP Jetadmin drivers Damaged Java Machine Damaged .log files Damaged entries in the History folder Incompatible or damaged dynamic link library files Viruses Damaged or incorrect Msinfo32.exe file Low disk space Other problems that depend on the Kernel file |

error
Thanks for the comprehensive list. I'll give those a try. Would it make sense that I could delete my OOTP5 file, download it again, and start a NEW historical league? Wouldn't that put me back to square on? Thanks again!
