REcord Book Glitch

Here's another little "something" I encountered this morning.

Last night, I was able to "work around" the Rule 5 Crash. Before I went to bed, I started a season in 1900 and simmed that season only. At seasons end, I went into the record book section and deleted all the rookie records, as I always do in the 1st season of a league. I then set the game to sim 24 more seasons and went to bed. Two things I noticed after I awoke:

1. The rookie records for batting averages were both listed as being set in 1900, despite the fact that I had deleted those records before going to bed.

2. The rookie home run records, after 25 complete seasons, were still blank. The other records all looked fine.

Has anyone else seen any rookie record oddities like this?

I've had this problem as well. I noticed in OOTP5, and I was really hoping it would be fixed. It seems that it happens mostly when you edit a record value yourself (especially average, especially rookie average, but others as well, I think). I tend to edit my values a lot, especially because the game puts veterans in as rookies in the first year of any league (something I was hoping could be fixed with service years, but oh well, that's another issue). It's quite the annoying bug.

I'm glad it's not only me. I know it's early yet, but perhaps this could also be brought to the developers attention?

I can't get league records for pitchers to update - I've tried blanking them, and changing them to a mediocre value, but they haven't been updated in 11 seasons so far. Fictional league, starting with blank records.

Bumping to keep this visible. Some sort of acknowledgment would be nice. It seems to be a long standing issue.

I have seen a couple of problems. Problems that have existed with previous versions:

Sometimes a team isn't recognized as being in the league, ie in one replay I had Babe Ruth playing for the Washington Senators an expansion team that was added to the AL and none of the records he set was marked as AL records they were just in limbo.

Sometimes a record set will have +1 added to the record at some point. A player will be credited for having 176 RBI's in 1930 but in reality he only hat 175.

I also have seen the blanking of a record book and then no one ever being credited with setting the record. **I think this may have been a problem with completly deleting the record, it seems like if you set it at a number ie 1 for HR or .100 for BA then this isn't a problem. I seem to recall this problem in previous versions**

I have to admit to a bit of frustration from receiving no input or acknowledgement whatsoever of this bug. Especially considering it dates from v5.

MR, I think when you just blank them out it doesn't update. I know the HR record updates when you set it to 1 instead of blank.

As for the BA record, I know for a fact it's not being updated. I set it to .001 and haven't seen it change even though folks should have broken it. This problem has been reported.

Thanks for the info, Matt. I'll try that with the home run record.

As for the BA flaw, I cannot imagine why this would be completely ignored after all this time. Although I'm not a programmer, it just doesn't seem like that big a problem to correct.

Lord knows, I never considered myself to be a whiner or comlainer sort of person, and I certainly have never had any issues/problems with customer support and Markus, Henry, Steve, et. al.

But I have to say, it's become a joke how this thread has been totally ignored by the "powers that be." Am I not being obnoxious enough to merit a direct response?

We must all hang together or assuredly we will all hang seperately.

Still not fixed in 6.01. New fictional league, blank record books, and rookie records are still filled incorrectly after the first season. BA and ERA just refuse to update no matter what.

HR&BA bug is reported, but apparently pretty well hidden. The more the tips you can post, the better.

did you delete the team rookie records? if not that my be your problem

the average is not recorded until the next season, though this does not always update still. ( i think this also may be caused if a team leader in avg was set in the first season)
