Can't Open OOTP 6
Ok...here's my issue. Every time I try to load OOTP 6 I get the following error:
OOTP 6.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program. An error log has been created. My Machine is an HP OmniBook 900 Laptop P3 - 500Mhz 128MB RAM Screen resolution at 1024x768 I have turned off 3D and Sound. Defragged Run Virus Scan I use this machine only for OOTP. OOTP 5 still runs fine, but I did notice that the order ID is the same as my OOTP 6. Don't know if that has anything to do with it. I also went into the install text file in the OOTP 6 folder and found this: Could not Self-Register: C:\Program Files\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP 6\elicen40.dll Could not Self-Register: C:\WINNT\system32\elicen40.dll Could not Self-Register: C:\WINNT\system32\elicen40.dll User Rights: Admin Someone please give me some ideas as to how to fix this. Thanks. |

Yeah...I've tried that. I also failed to mention that I am running Win 2000 PRO.
I am going to check HP's website for any driver updates...install those. Uninstall OOTP 6 and re download the setup file and see if I can get that to work. |

Steve,
I have a firewall on my router. But I have tried it offline as well. Still no luck. I can open it enough to install the license, and then when I hit "launch" nothing happens. Then when I reboot and try to run the game I get the error listed above. I was wondering where I could find the error log so I could make sure I know what is wrong with it. I've unistalled almost everything off the machine and still no luck. Thanks. |

I haven't contacted viatech yet? Do you think it could be a license issue? I can get the license online, but the game won't launch.
I'm still trying to identify what may be causing this. Could there be a conflict with the license? |

sounds like exactly the problem I'm having.
Looking through the install log (in the folder the game is in) the elicen40.dll failed to self-register error is showing up. Can't manually register the DLL using regsvr32.exe either.

Googling has brought up a couple of old posts from when OOTP5 came out that mention some sort of diagnostic/utility from viatech.
Unfortunately I had to read google's cached version of the posts as they don't seem to be on here any more, so there's no proper detail of what it is.

It means that the DLL shouldn't be trying to self-register, but the installation program is telling it to.
Therefore a failure to self-register shouldn't cause a problem
