OOTP6 Won't Start

Please help. I just bought OOTP6. Download was fine, install went without apparent problem. When I try to launch, nothing happens. Literally nothing. The hourglass icon appears, then disappears. No start screen, no error message. Nothing.

Dell Laptop, Windows XP, 128 MB RAM, Pentium III 750 Mhz, 1024 x 768, DirectX 9.0 installed.

Note that the same problem occurred for me with OOTP5 last October, even though it worked fine before then. It also appeared with Fast Break College Basketball in December. I sent an e-mail to Viatech in February but they ignored it. I called today and they simply sent me a link to the download for OOTP6, which I used and reinstalled the game, but no luck.

Very frustrating. I'm pretty sure this is an eLicense problem, but Viatech has been less than helpful. I'm very close to asking for my money back and giving up on OOTP, but I don't want to do that. Can anyone help?

Try this and let me know if it solves it:

In XP: Control Panel>Admin Tools>Services. Make sure CtrLic is enabled.

Try double clicking the executible file in its directory, instead of the desktop icon.

(and then recreating the desktop icon)

Haha, for real though, alot of times when I install a new game, it farks up the desktop icon. When I double click the icon, I get hourglass-of-death or nothing at all. The only way to open the game is to click on the directory exe, then later recreate the desktop icon link. Its weird.
