Game really slow with sound

The ootp6 play by play engine is really slow when I have the ingame sound on. If I turn off the sound it works just fine. On ootp5 it worked just fine with sound. Is there anything I should try? I have soundblaster sound card, fast machine, up to date directx and Windows XP.

Sounds like you've covered all the bases, if you have virus scanning software make sure to inactivate it while playing it's possible that could speed things up.
