DirectX errors

I have installed OOTP6 and downloaded the patch, but am still receiving the following error messages when trying to execute ootp6.exe:

CreateSurface: Backbuffer
NODIRECTDRAWHW

and

InitApp
Error InitDirectDraw

I downloaded the latest version of DirectX from the Microsoft web site.

Am running Windows 98 SE

Please help

Thanked 1x in 1 post
Well what kind of video card do you have? Thats where the issue seems to be because direct draw runs off hardware that dx9 uses.

Thats the same exact error I had when I was trying to play a game when I old video card.

Tho I could be totaly wrong... but thats what seems to be issue with you... video card.

You may want to also upgrade your OS too at some point(I dont think thats the issue but Microsoft is getting close to not supporting 9x anymore).

Thanks for your help - I think I got it working - I went to Start -> Programs -> Out Of The Park Developments -> OOTP6 -> Game Configuration, and I toggled off the Direct 3D.

Then it worked...

But I agree that I need to upgrade soon...thanks again
