Black Screen on startup

This is totally bizarre. I can't start OOTP6 "when pinned to the start menu". I went to OOTP6.exe and told it to pin itself to the start menu (using XP). Now when I try to access the program from there I only get a "blank black screen".

I re-installed the program with the patch. Same thing. However, the "desktop icon" launches the program without any problem. Trouble is -- I don't like icons on my desktop! I've never seen a problem like this. The desktop icon references the file OOTP6.exe as does the start menu?? Very strange.

My "start menu" item starts the game fine. Not sure why you are getting the issue.

Yeah, it is very strange. But I've tried everything. I like to move my favorite programs to the start menu -- I'm talking about the "oick start section to the left" not the "all programs" section.

However, I have just re-pinned OOTP6 from the "all programs" section and it works just fine now. I don't understand why using the Win Explorer and going to the directory and pinning it from there would cause any trouble. Very odd.

Oh well. It's OK now -- I can remove the icon from my desktop now. Thanks for replying.

I get this black screen no matter where I have it at. I'm at wit's end trying to get it to work.

Try disabling "Direct 3D" using the "Game Configuration" program in the Start/Programs/... OOTP6 folder. It worked for me- seems like this problem is related to Radeon/ATI cards....

Also, it would be halpful to list what video card you have, the driver your using, what version of DirectX you have and what the OS is on your machine.
