Multiple Problems and Question
I recently purchased OOTP6 for my PC.
My first experience with OOTP was last year's version 5 which I enjoyed thoroughly, playing dynasties and careers up to 30 years. I'm having some difficulty with OOTP6 however. Here is what I'm finding. **When I try to fill minor league rosters with fictional players, the computer freezes every single time. **The simulation of games seems to be about 5 times slower than OOTP5. Example, it takes me about 30 minutes just to simulate one week of action. That NEVER happened in version 5. It's extremely odd because I just bought a new pc with twice the speed and memory of the computer I ran OOTP5 on.. I have a 2.7 GHZ processor, 512MB DDRAM and an 80 gig hard drive. Any idea why the performance is much slower? or is there a bug? Or am I doing something wrong?? On a lighter note, does anyone have updated 2004 rosters that I can use?? I'm trying to build the Red Sox of this year, and the trade logic won't let me get Curt Schilling without giving up the farm! Any help you could give would be appreciated. |

First off, I don't recommend "filling minors" if anything "fill AA". More than likely one of the following is the problem:
-The same position is listed twice in the lineup. -The same player is listed twice in the lineup. -One position is missing. -An "injured" pitcher is scheduled to start a game. Turn OFF your virus software and you speed issue should be gone. |

Steve,
you said, "First off, I don't recommend "filling minors" if anything "fill AA". How come? Only reason I ask is that I play multiple seasons and like to have a full compliment in the minors to call up or trade. Also, thank you. I never even thought of the virus software slowing it down. I'll try that. "The same position is listed twice in the lineup. -The same player is listed twice in the lineup. -One position is missing. -An "injured" pitcher is scheduled to start a game" How can the above freeze the game or stop the process when I try to fill the minors right when I create a historical league? I don't understand. Is there something like the Layman database that can be used for OOTP that has Minor Leaguers by year?? |

Filling minors can often create a log-jam of players and may hinder the development of some. You are saying that when you are trying to "fill minors" is freezes? How long are you waiting? Don't trust the windows "not responding" message.

I've waited about 15 minutes each time... then given up. Perhaps the virus software is killing that as well??
it used to take about 2-3 minutes for OOTP5. And yes, the Not Responding message often blinks back and forth between running and not responding. |
