OOTP6 will not even load...

It works great on my home computer, but I'm having problems getting it to run on my old laptop (no chuckling!).

Compaq Presario 1260 (AMD K6 333mHz)
64mb RAM
DirectX 9.0b
Adequate HDD space
Windows handling virtual memory

I can license the game without problem, but the game simply will not launch. OOTP5 ran fine, albeit slowly.

What is "adequate" HDD space?

Shame on me...should've just posted this to begin with.

Adequate=1.92gb available on a 3gb HDD

FYI:

Direct3D is off
Sound is off
Resolution is set to 1024x768 at 16-bit (also have tried 24-bit)

Will load dxdiag in a few minutes...

DxDiag

This will show the current resolution as being set to 800x600. I set it back to that after trying to run OOTP6. I run the game religiously at 1024x768.

My first guess is that RAM may be an issue especially if there are other programs running.

Explorer and Systray are the only two things running. Everything else is shut down via msconfig.

I am having this exact problem on my laptop..and the really bizarre thing is that it worked before I had to reload Windows 2000...I have all current updates to every driver and it loads the license fine..then will not start at all...OOTP6 has generated errors and is closing...is the message I get...still no answers...
