New position learned...but I didn't teach him

I am just about to start a new season in my standard league with CBL rosters, and I just recieved a bunch of delayed e-mails saying that Ellis Burks, etc. didn't sign minor league deals with me.

The last e-mail is the problem however. My scout tells me that Russel Branyan has been coming along well while learning a new position: CF.

Problem is...I didn't tell the game to teach him a new position.

Is he in the minors or playing games in the majors? If you have the AI control your minors, players will often be moved if there are too many players at one position.
