Game crashes when simming and in manager mode

Hello, I just bought OOTP6 last week. I am currently running version 6.1. I think the game is extremely well thought out. It has everything I look for in a sports simulation game, except for one thing. It keeps CRASHING on me. I have read the other complaints about crashing and they all seem rather similar but not exactly. I will give you a description of my system and what I did in the game the best I can remember.

My system –
Win XP Professional Office
PEN 4 3.4 gig
1 gig ram
MSI Geforce MX 5950 Ultra w/updated drivers.
Raid 0 hard disk setup
Sound blaster Audigy 2 LS sound card w/updated drivers

I have also done a defrag. I do not know how this will help you, but that is the important parts of my system.

As far as the game goes, It works fine in my historical league w/Lahman data base. I can also Sim the other games in my Career league, but when I try to Sim my human ran and managed team the games crashes and gives me

OOTP6.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Also I receive the same error message if I even try to open the Manager screen from the drop down Menu.

I don’t know if this can be fixed. I sure hope so because I would like to play the game it looks very enjoyable. Until then, I will play other baseball sim’s.

Me too -- after solving an ATI video card error with the menus, started a combo human/manager league with my brothers. And it keeps on freezing in sim mode with the same message as the poster listed above. Often won't even sim out a day before crashing, and if you reenter the game and try to restart the sim without rebooting, the error window appears isntantly before you even begin the sim.

Similar problem here. I have a 26 team fictional league starting in 1990 in Manager Mode and the game freezes halfway through the day's games on 6/14/93. I had it freeze a few days prior to the current one, but downloaded the latest Catalyst drivers and was able to work around the problem by simming a day, week, or month at a time (ie not simming my game individually). However, thats not working now, and I haven't been able to find a way to get around the current problem. My problem is always when the player controlled team's game is simmed, the computer controlled team's games sim fine.

More than likely one of the following is the problem:

-The same position is listed twice in the lineup.
-The same player is listed twice in the lineup.
-One position is missing.
-An "injured" pitcher is scheduled to start a game.

These are the most common reasons why the "game freezes".

Thanks Steve, I've been playing a backup catcher at 3rd base and when my starting catcher got hurt the game listed the backup catcher at 3rd base twice against lefthanders. Appears to have straightened things out.

yep, somehow my brother ended up with Jason Bay of all people listed in the lineup playing rightfield twice (how is that possible by the way?) for him against LHP. Fixed it -- no more crashing.

Great, I really think that if more folks would check this and make sure of their lineups, etc that more would realize this is the cause of their problem.

Hey there everyone. I've run into the same problem, have checked out my lineups and nobody is playing a position twice and every position is accounted for. It's my team everytime this happens....Rather annoying....I even do auto depth and auto lineup to see if it'll help and it doesn't

This is the only reason I've found for the game to lockup, I would suggest checking each depth chart for the above issues.

Steve could it be that a guy is listed as the top percentage sub for both left and right field? If that's the case this bug has to be fixed cause this happens often where a guy is your 4th outfielder and he can play either position.

Well, I can't figure it out at all. I erased all my depth charts and redid them and now my whole league is messed up leader boards in the AL are all messed up as nobody appears in the league leaders in AVG and lots of teams don't have their specific team leaders in AVG. This is frustrating, my first lock up with OOTP ever.
