I would bet that the control rating formula gave the player a rating below 0 (due to some bug), but since 1 was the minimum that's what they get. I haven't noticed many other (if any) 1 ratings anywhere else.

OK, I apologize for jumping the gun on this one. In working with a league file in an attempt to figure out a good way to fix the "1" ratings easily, I did some further testing and found out that the players who converted to 1 *will* eventually have their Control start rising again.
The sample players I'd looked at earlier *didn't* within two seasons, but after the third they definitely did. Once I started looking at all players on a broader scale it was evident that players' control ratings would go up from 1 given enough time. Some player ratings began to rise after only about a month or two. So the scope of this problem appears that the conversion drops the rating down very low, not that the ratings fail to start going back up again. My apologies for scaring anybody. |
