Waivers Issue - Very Good Prospects Being Let Go

Me and a few others have noticed teams putting very good prospects (4.5-5 stars) through waivers and not pulling them back. These are guys who have option years left and were not struggling in the minors. They were also very young, as in under 23.

I am also seeing this. from the last draft 2 of the top seven picks were waived before their first season in the minors was over.

Also seeing this. Usually occurs at the end of the regular season (although not only). After the 40 man roster drops back to 25, the computer sends a bunch of players down and has to pass them through waivers. There are usually a dozen or so excellent prospects who are there. Since the club is over their roster limit, they can't pull them back. Most likely, this area just needs some tweaking, not an overhaul.

I was in the first 3 months of a franchise, and I was seeing this. Guys like Gabe Gross, Franklin Guttierez, Casey Kotchman.....were being let go through waivers. They all had option years too.

Wow. Haven't seen that. What roster set were you using?

On July 29th, 1962, 22-year-old Willie Stargell was put through waivers. He was not out of options and was hitting .306 at AAA. The waivers are revocable, and strangely nobody has claimed him through the entire process. I'm resisting all urges to do it myself.

EDIT: Now that I look at the transactions screen, they're putting them through to take them off the 40-man roster. Justin, did those prospects get released or were the waivers revoked?
