Problem Starting any File..
Hey, I am now experiencing problems opening any league in OOTP5. All of a sudden, I don't know what possibly could have happened, but everytime I try to load the files it says 'Invalid Player File'. I reinstalled the game so it cant be that. And i have like 6 seasons, theres no way i could have deleted the same file in all of them.
Any suggestions? Thanks in Advance. |

It doesn't sound like you've installed the seasons properly or possibly in the correct place. Check and be sure that they are in the OOTP folder.

No, I haven't deleted any leagues. Haven't deleted any files either, I checked my recycle bin and it goes back to this past Thursday, no OOTP files in there since Thur. & It worked up until Sunday.

I think I made some progress, I got by the Invalid Player file(I have like 4-5 backups of the league), and now it's to the point where all the data is correct, but whenever I click on anything in the game(league news, team page, spring training, etc) the game freezes and then the Windows XP send data error message comes up. Any suggestions at what the problem may be?

all the player and team files are outdated. Ive tried replacing them, but somehow the files ive been using forever went from 2.5 mb .dat files to 0kb files. This makes absolutely no sense, and I am very sad to see a long-lasting online league to be ruined thanks to stupid errors like these. Unless theres some possible way to convert a .html file to a .dat file, im ****ed.

Files becoming corrupted or unable to be used can be caused by any number of issues, here is a short list:
-adding or removing other software on your PC. -power surges. -turning the PC off improperly. -adding or removing hardware. -a virus. -a fragmented hard drive. -having your PC lockup or freeze. -improperly closing a program. -hardware failure(that has either shown itself or maybe not yet). Just to name a few. What caused your problem? I have no idea, it may have been OOTP or it may have been some other issue. One thing is for sure is that it is always a good idea to make regular backups of your league folder(s). |

I know, but is there any way to fix these files? Say it is a virus, and it is cleaned up, will the files return to their normal state? If I defrag, will they return to normal? Thanks.
