Possible bug when player learns new position

In the FIBB sim last night one of my minor league outfielders, Fermin Alicea, managed to learn to play CF while in A-ball. Alicea managed to learn the position with a 100 (on the 1-100 rating scale, obviously) rating despite the fact that he only rates a 14 in RF. This seems pretty off to me. This player is working backwards on the defensive scale and not only managed to learn the position, but he learned it at a level that would rival anyone in the history of baseball.

I wanted to make a note of it here in case no one else has seen anything like this.

I've seen that stuff happening very rarely in V5. Is this the only player?

Apparently not. Another minor league player on the Havana club in the same league mysteriously sprouted a 100 in CF.

Just about to post on this very topic when I saw this thread.

It appears that every player who learns a new position during the season (as opposed to spring training) gets a rating of 100 for that position.

Apparently this suggestion was also inspired by the same problem:

How I wish defence worked

I'm fairly certain that its not every player. One on my top catching prospects in the same league took to 1B with a rating of oly 40. I was actually happy with that since most players who learned 1B in OOTP5 seemed to learn it with a rating of, dare I say it, "E".

The league I'm using is a converted OOTP5 league, if that makes a difference. In fact, only one player had a rating of 100 after converting my league from OOTP5-a SS on a team I controlled. Now there are 12 players with ratings of 100, all who were in the league prior to conversion. Also, only one of these players who added a 100 range played a position other than 1B, LF or RF--a 3B with a 45 range who now has 100 range at SS. Also, the 1B, LF and RF had ranges of 31 or less, and got 100 range at positions such as CF, 2B, 3B and SS.

I do not have anyone who has 100 range at C, 1B or RF, so maybe not every position benefits by the gift of 100 range when learning the position.

Just out of curiousity. Can the commish turn on the editor and report the actual fielding rating? I'm wondering if the rating is actually maxed out way above 100 in some kind of reverse rollover bug.

My commish checked Alicea's rating in CF, it was 250. We also had a couple of other players with the same problem. It seems fairly isolated, but three instances in one season is a bit worrysome.

Alright, that confirms what I thought. The formula that is used to give the player his new fielding rating is messed up and results in some infinitely large number. However, the max possible rating is 250, so that's what they get.
