Expired broadcasting not renewing

My online league finished their first season under OOTP6 2 days ago. Many teams suffered financially due to the lowered attendance in OOTP6. Markus seemed to indicate that this lowering of attendance was somewhat compensated for by increased broadcasting deals. To get my league fully in OOTP6 finances, I set every team in the league to have both their broadcasting deals expire at the end of that season. So it was the end of 2007 and every teams broadcasting deal was set to expire in 2007.

Last night I proceeded to next (2008). None of the broadcasting deals were updated. They all stayed exactly the same and even still showed that they expired in 2007 despite it now being 2008!

What the heck happened? How do I get OOTP6 to redo the broadcasting deals? This was under patch 6.02a...

Hmm, I think when you set media contracts to expire, they do so at the very beginning of that year. So 2007 would try to expire when you first flip to 2007, but since you were already past that point it would not register. If you are already into 2008, set them to expire in 2009 and when you first proceed into that season, they should renew.

That actually makes sense!
