New custom league frozen

I created a 24-team (4 teams x 3 divisions x 2 leagues) with fictional players, empty record book, 162 games, starting in 1901.

I ran the initial draft, updated payrolls, added a salary cap and adjust the cash max.

I modified league totals per the button that says something to the effect of update for historical accuracy. I set the era to 1900-1920.

I then swapped a couple teams between divisions via the edit league structure button. I also changed the city of one team, then changed the names of all teams to their real-life names. I left the ballparks to the default, giving everyone "old league park".

I then set all teams to cpu and ran cpu manager on all teams. I didn't add fictional players to fill the minor leagues.

So all this being done, I go to the league schedule and begin a sim, and everything goes perfectly fine.

I go back, assign specific ballparks to each team, eliminating the use of Old League Park, and go back to sim. Window says "Simulating..." at the top, and freezes. Does nothing else.

I'm running 6.03 with no add-ons. I uninstalled the game, moved the leagues I have to a different folder, then rebooted and reinstalled. I recreated the league, then restored a backup I made after I changed stadiums, and tried to sim.

Same problem, had to kill the program via Windows task manager.

I'm running Windows XP on a machine that meets all requirements and then some for the game, with everything updated.

The odd thing is, other leagues I've been playing work fine, but this one does not. The other leagues are all default layout leagues, some with downloaded rosters, some with default rosters. This league just doesn't want to run, and I've created it and re-created it several times, not only from the backup, but also from scratch. The hitch seems to be with the stadiums. Like I said, it worked before I assigned stadiums, then stopped after I assigned them. I even tried Ankit's stadiums, both the 100 and regular stadiums, and had the same problem. I don't have Ankit's stadiums currently installed... like I said, I have no add-ons now, thanks to the uninstall/reinstall.

Any ideas???

okay, I changed all team ballparks back to old league park, but didn't recreate the league. Same problem - sim freezes up.

no duplicate names in lineups.

another note... I enabled internet league mode when setting this league up as well, then afterward turned it off and tried simming, and it still froze up.

yeah, it's really weird and happening on two different computers. I don't know if it's changing the city name, exchanging teams or what?

I'd like to start a 16-24 team fictional league in 1901, but so far, it's not happening.

have you tried turning off the in game sound and the interface sounds? You can also disable any other programs that you have running in the background such as virus scanners, screensavers, or anything else that you don't need to run the game?

BINGO!!! Not the sounds et al, but...

Okay, I went back and did stuff piece-by-piece to see what's wrong. I started a fully default 32-team custom league (out-of-the-box), and turned off coaches. Everything ran.

Did another one with 24 teams, turned off coaches, everything ran.

Adjusted the ratings (1-100, 1-20, etc), everything ran.

Did one thing at a time until it froze again.

Where did it freeze?

In the Engine Setup, I hit 'Recalculate for historical accuracy' after I'd completed the draft, then hit 'Calculate' for Average Balls in Play.

Ran the sim, it locked up.

Is there a problem or issue with the recalculate that I'm missing?

okay, more specifically, it's the "Calculate" button that kills it. When I adjust league totals but don't hit "Calculate", it runs fine. I hit "Calculate" and it freezes when I sim.

I've never recalculated my leagues totals, my fictional league started play in 2003. I'm sure one of the masterminds on the boards can be more of a help to you

yeah, I recalculated because I started in 1901. Thanks for the effort, though.

even manually changing the number without hitting 'calculate' kills it.

.297 isn't cutting it, cuz I'm getting guys that are hitting .560 in late June with that.

is there something I can do to the league totals to lower overall batting average, or is it related to the BABIP? If I stay at .297 with fictional players in 1901, the averages are WAY too high. What can I do?

Increase the number of hits in the league totals and the averages will go down.

I'll give that a shot... but in the meantime, what does BABIP effect?

also... moving on from here, is this a possible bug or should I look for something on my own system for a solution?

Finally found my way over to this thread which you referred to in the other forum. I'd look carefully over your league totals numbers that caused the crash. In some testing I ran into something that seemed like this that you describe because as a group my league totals were impossible for some reason. It was something like I did not have enough possible non-HR hits or not enough ABs to have just the Hits & K that I had specified.

but I didn't change anything manually. I let the software do the calculation. Makes me think it might be a bug. I could understand if I screwed up the totals myself, but I haven't touched them, other than the study of manually changing BABIP.

btw, I've done this before, in OOTP5, many times. I'm half-tempted to reinstall the v6 without the patches and see what happens.

or... what if I created the league in 1901 in OOTP5, ran through to where I want to start playing in OOTP6, then converted it, so I wouldn't have to mess with league totals at all?
