OOTP6, Windows 95 and Microsoft Visual C++ Basic Error

a little help here please....

i'm running OOTP6 on a windows 95 PC. the league that comes with the game (the "career league") works fine, but whenever i try to use a league file that's been constructed from the CBL roster set, i get the error

Microsoft Visual C++ Basic Error

it shouldn't be a problem with the league file, since it works fine on an XP computer.

any idea what i need to install on the system or change in the league file to get it to work?

IF it is properly installed on the 95 PC it should work.
