frustrating microsoft error
Currently, I just finished my third year and after the world series, there is a button that allows you to advance to the next season. While its "generating league reports" the program displays the error message:
"OOTP6.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost. Please tell Microsoft about this problem. We have created an error report that you can send to us. We will treat this report as confidential and anonymous. The see what data this error report contains, click here." Then is has three buttons, Debug, Send Error Report, Don't Send. Then the game just shuts down. This has happened to me during random times in multiple leagues and its getting really frustrating. In my current league, I downloaded the MLB 2005 roster to the game, but this has happened in my unmodded roster versions as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Btw, this is OOTP version 6; and i downloaded the 6.12 patch. I have Windows XP Last edited by xeroair; 04-11-2005 at 06:44 PM. Reason: clarifications |

Yup same here. The thing is though, all my other leagues are working fine. This one I just created and once I get to the game screen and press 1 for the first pitch, that error will always pop up. So my problem is with opening day as well. I can not sim the first day either, I can not do anything but watch it crash!

You are blaming the wrong person. The software crashed. Something in the program caused it to crash. The report it generates can help the developers to figure out what caused the crash.
You can turn off the reporting by going into the control panel and selecting SYSTEM, then click on the ADVANCED tab, then click on the ERROR REPORTING tab. You can disable the error reporting, but have it notify you of the error, like Windows 98 does or you can turn it off for programs and not windows or vice versa. I have never heard what Microsoft does with the reports, if they really do look at them, but as for this program, I am sure they do not, as they more and likely just look at their programs or programs that get a lot of reports sent in on it.

Same problem
For what its worth, have had an identical experience. Windows XP, upgraded to 6.12, every time you generate a report at the end of a game the game freezes followed by the error report. Have taken all precautions, including line ups and shutting down all other programs including anti virus while playing. No effect. Didn't have anything like this until the 6.12 patch.

Had the same experience with Windows XP and version 6.12. I had the experience at least 7 times when trying to print out box score at the end of a played game. I tried playing a game with the sound options off and it didn't crash nor did I get the error message. Seems like a Windows XP and version 6.12 problem.

I have windows set for auto updates and I print the boxscore from the in game browser. Tried it again last night with all the sound off and it printed out with no problems. Also when the game froze up I lost part of that days stats, including the boxscore of the game I tried to print and any player stats generated for that game but I was unable to replay the game and a different boxscore was posted for that game in the schedule. Makes no sense.
