Game crash during playoffs

Okay, first with the specs:

Dell PC, Win XP svc pack 2, P4 @ 1.8 GHz, 384 MB RAM.

OOTP 6.12. Sound off.

Now with the problem. I recently received the standard error report "do you want to report this error" error message. Error message header:

AppName: ootp6.exe AppVer: 0.0.0.0 ModName: ootp6.exe
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 0047e56b

I'm trying to paste the error report generated, but for some reason it's not showing up in my post preview. I can email it to anyone that wants to see.

Okay, I had been simming year one playoffs of a historical season, starting 1987, human controlled Houston. After the first round of playoffs, I got a window stating that Cleveland's players needed to be removed from waivers or released. I went in and removed Cleveland's waiver players. Tried to sim the playoffs, and the same window for Boston showed up. I had other things to do, so I just closed down OOTP. That's when the error showed up, upon OOTP shutdown.

I came back later today to play again, and when the game is starting up, the same error rears it's ugly head again. I guess it has something to do with the players stuck on the team's waiver lists, but cannot be sure.

Has this happened before? I'm sure it has, but I have no clue what to do. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

It'd be a shame, since Nolan Ryan had 280+ K and led the league in ERA!

Seems to me you may be out of luck. For the future:

1. Be sure to backup your league, especially if it's one you want to keep long term.
2. Save your league often; after making roster changes and any other changes.
3. If you are playing a historical league, go to league setup, Misc. Setup and click "Allow Computer teams to sign and release players". Then the AI teams will take care of their roster moves on their own.

In any case, to get OOTP running again, go into your OOTP6 folder, delete your league and find the folder that says Career 2004. Rename it to the name of the league you just lost(actually deleted). This will get OOTP to open again. Now you can create another league.

Yeah, I had already planned on changing the file names. If there is any way to get this fixed otherwise, I am all ears.

Thanks for the response.

Oh yeah, the "Allow Computer teams to sign and release players." option was not to be found. You sure it's in settings -> misc. settings?

It's in the Misc Setup section in the Financial Functions part. Only an option in a historical league. The option may not be there if you've toggled other options in other areas of the game.

If you start a new historical league, go there first and check it. It'll be there. toggle it to "Yes" and you'll be good to go.
