If anything has changed effecting this style of play in the last 2 years ...new DBs, changes in the way the game works, etc... would anyone care to bring me up to speed?

Yanks get veteran starter
NEW YORK, NY February 3, 1962
The Yankees in need of pitching help today traded Duke Maas 55-47 4.09 ERA to Baltimore for veteran pitching ace Frank Lary 110-99 3.34 ERA. The Yanks made the deal because Ralph Terry now a free agent has been rumored to sign with the expansion Houston Colt .45’s. Yankee manager Ralph Houk stated “we have offered Ralph a pretty good deal” and hopes that Terry will return. Houk also said, “we are excited to have Frank in the starting rotation”.
In another deal the Yankee’s sent veteran infielder Joe DeMaestri to San Francisco for relief pitcher Billy Loes . Loes career record is 77-59 with a ERA of 3.88. Houk said of Loes “he should be a good addition to the bullpen”.
in addition to free agent Terry the Yankee’s are hoping resign several other free agents including third baseman Clete Boyer, pitchers Luis Arroyo, Art Ditmar, Ryne Duren and Bob Turley. Houk also stated “we sure hope we can get most of these guys back in pinstripes”.
In other free agent news around the major leagues, Baltimore and Pittsburgh completed a deal. The Orioles sent first baseman Dick Wiliams and minor league pitcher Jesus Feliz to the Pirates for catcher Hal Brown.
There is a rumor that Dodger pitcher Don Drysdale now a free agent has been talking to the Orioles on a possible deal. In another rumor the expansion Mets have offered Giants free agent Stu Miller a 3 year contract around $ 436,500. Hopefully the new team can sign the veteran relief pitcher.

In essence what I am trying to do is create a league that both modern players and Hall of Famers can play in at the same time.

Say, start in 1980 with the players of that era, plus ALL of the Hall of Fame players from earlier era's. Ruth, Aaron, Mays, etc would debut as rookies in the inaugural draft.

The reason I ask is that I have seen some of things the AI does in lineups that are just completely ridiculous. I saw the AI start a 34 year old Ted Kluszewski at 2nd base and then bat him leadoff. Also seen the AI pinch hit for Hank Aaron.

I am thinking of a doing a fairly large, complex sim project but do not want to waste a whole bunch of time if the results are going to be completely ridiculous.

I'm doing a hands off sim from 1871 to present with recalc off. Other than changing a modifier in 1871 it has been completely hands off until in 1915 I looked up Babe Ruth and noticed he was a pitcher (with a 10-11 month injury). I switched him to an OF since I thought that wouldn't happen in the game with recalc off (left the injury).

This is the only scenario I would want to intervene and I was wondering if anyone knew a list of the stars who start as a pitcher and got moved to the other side of the ball or vice versa. Again only stars, I'll let Ankiel develop however he develops, but I don't want to lose some of the bigger names to the wrong side of the ball.

Thanks in advance.

Hi All. Was wondering if anyone has seen this issue and if so, what the fix might be? I've looked through the forums but haven't had any luck finding this. I'm trying to sim my first season (1871) of an historical replay, just to get the proper LTM's so that my stats come out a little closer after my first season. After the sim finishes, I go to my Game Setup - Strategy tab and enable the automatically enable League Total Modifiers. The offensive category numbers change like you would expect, but when I scroll down to the Position Modifiers section, the only thing that has changed is the Range for the outfielders. For all the other positions, the Range and Errors have stayed at 1.000, but for all 3 outfielder positions, the Range is now showing
-1.#IO while the Errors show as 1.000. I found this very strange (and very frustrating that I can't get the ranges and errors right before I start my first year) and haven't been able to figure out what in the heck is going on. I've even uninstalled the game and reinstalled. Any information that's provided would be greatly appreciated, even if it's just to provide the Range and Errors for an Historical league starting in 1871 for all positions.

Thanks Guys!

Does anyone play mostly fictional with the occasional "real player" thrown in? If so, when do you add the real player?

For example, say I started a fictional league in 1940 and started simming. At some point I'd want to manually add Jackie Jensen to the league but I don't want him to just magically appear in the majors in 1950 at the age of 23 (like he did in real life). I'd like to add him to a feeder league a few seasons earlier and then just allow things to progress randomly.

Has anyone had any success doing this? I've tried manually creating feeder league players with very, very high potential ratings (just as a test) but it hasn't really been working out. That is, they don't seem to be developing very well.

Thanks.

Hi everyone:

I already posted this in the "newbies" section, but I figured I'd post it here as well since it is has to do with a historical simulation.

My name is Scott, and I am a long-time recreational sports simulation gamer (also playChampionship/Football Manager for Soccer, International Cricket Captain, and Strat-O-Matic Baseball and Basketball) who just discovered and purchased OOTP X, and am enjoying the game greatly so far. After perusing the boards, I downloaded the historical player picture, logo, and ballpark picture files and have them stored on my hard drive. I am going to start a 20th-century historical simulation beginning with the 1901 season, and would like to know the procedure for how to import those pictures into my game. I downloaded the files I'm trying to import from the Padresfan's Mod website at OOTP Photopacks. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me, and it's nice to be here. :)
