1) Is it OK to have OOTP 9 & OOTP X on the same computer at the same time, or will it present any compatibility issues?
2) How is historical play in OOTP X vs. 9? Accuracy? Flexibility? (I see in the new patch the correct jersey numbers are imported--that's cool). Is upgrading worth the price if I'm mainly going to play historical leagues?
Thanks, and happy simming!:D

Every player on a college or high school roster has a 5 Star Potential rating.....even if there potential ratings suck. The scouting report talks about how great they are even if there ratings on a 1-10 scale are 4/3/2/7/8 or something like that.

Any ideas?

Well, two scenarios I've run into today:

1) In my online league, we just hit free agency after the 2009 season and players are asking for a BOATLOAD of money. Guys like Orlando Cabrera asking for $25M+ per year. Sounds like these crazy demands will come down, which is good but I was curious to hear some feedback.

2) My solo-league, it's the exact opposite. I have guys like Vlad Guerrero only requesting $2.5M/year and even middle of the road guys like Ryan Freel, he starts his "demands" at $600,000.

How can I adjust these? I have salary info set at MLB quickstart default; so $16M for star players on down to $400,000 for league minimum.

What do I need to adjust here?

WTF? Playing a historic league, starting in 1969. All's well till we get to 1972... season 4. Suddenly, Earl Williams, my main catcher, is chucking every throw in sight into the outfield. Fine then. Let's try Ellie Hendricks, a real catcher (though with similar average-type catcher ratings to Williams). Second game in the lineup... 4 throwing errors. So I go with new draftee Rick Dempsey. First game in the lineup... throws into center.

Through 82 games, my catchers now have about 35 errors among them. Every time there's a SB attempt, it appears, we have a throwing error. This is insane. And of course it's killing the team.

Anybody have any idea why all my catchers are turning into Steve Sax/Chuck Knoblauch/Mackey Sasser?

When I originally heard the term "quick start", I assumed it meant a way to save a league structure after making all necessary customizations including leagues, teams, etc. Basically a way to save in template form everything the way you like it - excluding the actual players.

Now, however, I'm seeing that it's basically a glorified backup. Meaning - I save the quick start - not only does it save all my customized parameters, but also statistics, boxscores, etc. Not what I want at all.

I then thought well maybe I'll just take my league (that I really want to restart with slight parameter changes and a whole new slate of players) and save it as a template. While it saves the structure of the league, all my logos, uniforms, parks, etc., aren't saved with it. Heck, that's about 50% of the drudgery of creating a new league!

Ok, so then I decided to perhaps go back to the quickstart route. Even though a quickstart saves all stats info and everything, I thought maybe a way to solve my problem is to load the quickstart and just blow out all the info I don't want. So - I'm asking here because I don't see it - how can I take a quickstart that was saved in June (in game-time), and blow out all the history/statistics/players and start from scratch with the same league parameters/uniforms/caps/logos, etc.? Is it possible?

After picking up a book on the history of scorekeeping in baseball ($1.00 at a discount store), I'm seriously considering starting to do this as I play out my games. One of the aspects the book says greatly changes a game experience is the familiarity you gain with the players. I think I can see it, looking at every aspect of the at-bat. It'll probably slow my gameplay time way down, but it may well be worth it.

Any of you solo players ever use a scorecard? In days of way gone by, I remember keeping score with the old Statis-Pro and it did give me that at a glance look at a player's day that the quick box score doesn't quite do.
