Game crashes

Every time I play historic mode, the game crashes when I try to simulate through a playoff game. It has never happened whenever I try to simulate a regular season game.

I tried a couple of different historical seasons and it seems to work OK. Can you give me a few more details about the exact historical setup you're using - start year, generate at 17 on/off, fhm development/recalculate, and which team you're playing as? And by simulate, do you mean when you hit Sim Game on the pregame screen, or Sim to End after the game has started?

I have two of them. The first one has a start year of 1942 and the second one has a start year of 1967. In the first one I am playing as the Chicago Blackhawks and in the second one I'm playing as the Pittsburgh Penguins. They both use the fhm development engine and generate rookies at 17. In the pregame screen I click sim game and that's when the game crashes. It is only for playoff games.

No, still can't get it to happen even after setting up games like yours. Could you upload your saves and we'll check if something's wrong there? Instructions for uploading them to our ftp site are here, or you can put them on a file sharing site like filedropper.com or dropbox and send me the link.

I have a mac and I am always worried about downloading things off the internet. Are you sure this won't infect my computer with anything?

I'll let FHM answer your concern but just a note that you're uploading not downloading.
I used the FTP without problems.

Quite sure, but if you don't want to use it, there's always the option of using the file sharing site.

The application I was told to download was charging me to use. How am I supposed to use an application that says it's free if I have to pay?

I'm not sure what you mean. The only application Markus mentioned in that post was Cyberduck, which is free. Regardless, though, if you don't want to use that, a file sharing site will let you upload it somewhere we can get it without needing to install additional software. Filedropper.com, uploadfiles.io, dropbox.com, senduit.com, any of those will work.

Got the save, but it doesn't crash for me - I've tried playing the games, entering and then simulating them, as well as just using "Auto-Play until..." to sim right past them, and none of them cause a crash. Which one of those are you using when you get the crash?

No, still won't crash for me when I do that. But we may be able to see why it's crashing for you from a trace file: go to the start screen, then the Settings tab and the Troubleshooting button, and click on "Enable debug trace", then restart the game, load your save, and try to play the next game. When it crashes, don't restart yet; instead, go to the \Documents\Out of the Park Developments\Franchise Hockey Manager 3\debug folder, open the file named fhm_trace.txt, copy the contents, and post them here. That may tell us something about what's going wrong.

I have multiple problems. The first one being that once I realized it only crashes when I try to sim a specific game I started simulating the playoffs and I got eliminated. The other problem is I am not able to find the Out of the Park Developments folder in documents.

The full folder location you're looking for will be something like C:\Users\(your username)\Documents\Out of the Park Developments\Debug.
