Crash upon goalie stop
When actually watching a game, the game has begun crashing as soon as the goaltender makes a stop. It did not do this previously, but has done so for a while.
The problem only occurs when watching the games, and not until either goalie makes a stop of the play. The game then crashes to desktop. OS: Windows 8 Pro 64bit CPU: Intel Core i5 2500K RAM: Corsair Vengeance 2133MHz GFX: nVidia GTX570 |

Could you upload the save from this game (see the instructions in this thread)?
This has been an intermittent problem that's been a huge pain to troubleshoot because it never seems to repeat when we move the save over to Sebastian or Malte's computers - I've had it happen myself and sent Sebastian a copy of my save, then walked through it step-by-step with him. My game would crash, his wouldn't. But if we get a few more of these, maybe we can finally get it to repeat, or at least figure out the common thread between systems where it's happening. |

I'll upload the save in a couple of hours - however, knowing that this problem has persisted over several different saves (having started a new one now that the update came), I have difficulties seeing how it's savefile related.
EDIT: Followed the instructions, savefile is uploaded. Last edited by CmdrSharp; 04-26-2013 at 04:25 AM. |

Thanks. This is turning into a very strange one. It's only happening to some people - myself included, I got it in all of a half-dozen different attempts with various setups today. But Sebastian looks at your save, one of mine, or just starts a game at the same time as me and mirrors my decisions, and he won't get a crash (same with Malte.) And the actual simulation code is the same whether you watch the game or just sim it, and it's not happening when durring autosimmed games. So he's going to add some extra debugging code to track it every step of the way, and hopefully that finally reveals the problem so a fix that can be included in the patch tomorrow. If not, we'll have to look further and try to see if there's some common thread amongst everyone who's getting this - certain hardware, maybe a particular virus checker, or something else.

I still can't, and never have gotten past the opening minutes of playing a game, as it always crashes the game. Simming works fine, but not playing the game.

We finally found it. Turns out it's some sort of display bug when you're playing windowed at 1280x800 (possibly others as well, but 1280x800 is definitely affected.) Sebastian is going to work on getting it fixed, but as a temporary measure anyone getting this crash should be able to get around it by switching to a different window size - 1024 x 768 and 1440 x 900 both work for me.
Edit: Looks like 1280x768 has the crash problem as well. We think all of the other ones should be safe, though. Edit again: 1280x1024 will also get the crash, but only if you have a desktop resolution large enough to support that window size (if it switches to a fullscreen window when you choose that resolution, you'll be OK.) The problem persisted on the Virtualbox, but that's explained by what you wrote. Should be noted I'm running the game at 1920x1080 fullscreen, so that's one of the affected resolutions.
