FHM Patch 1.3.13 Now Available
The final version of our second post-release patch, Version 1.3.13, is now available.
The database in this update was updated yesterday, and will be the basis of the "start of season" quickstart included in future patches for those who don't wish to have their rosters updated past the start of the NHL year. Note that a few early-season moves are included as well, notably the coaching change in Philadelphia. You can download the new patch at: (PC) FHM - Update 1.3.13 (Mac) FHM - Update 1.3.13 PC Installation instructions: After you download the file just install it over your existing game (you don't need to uninstall the old version first.) Make sure to select the correct path to your game if needed. Mac Installation instructions: After you download the .dmg file, open it, move the fhm.app file to your applications folder and copy over the old version. After installation, the game should display "Version 1.3.13" at the bottom of the statup screen; if it shows a different build number, you'll need to re-download and reinstall (and before doing so, make sure the update file you downloaded has been deleted and your browser cache cleared.) Note that if you decide to uninstall and reinstall, you should first release one of your licenses via Preferences-License on the start screen. Saves from earlier versions are compatible with this version, but be aware that many types of bugs are likely to persist when using games started with an earlier version, so starting a new game is strongly recommended. If you continue an earlier save and have problems, please let us know when you report the issue that it occurred when using an old save. Notes: The change list is very long, primarily bugfixes as well as some basic interface/usability adjustments. In general, these are the things that were not fixable and/or testable quickly enough for the first patch, as well as issues that became evident after its release. The old, position-only filter system for player lists has been completely replaced by one that allows searching by a number of different criteria. The code for building those lists has also been adjusted so it should work much faster now. Last week, we found some previously-undetected issues with home/away scoring and puck possession changes during games; those are now resolved and fixed, and, in combination with earlier changes, should result in more realistic game scores, with lopsided scores being much less common. Unfortunately, in the process we lost some of the improvements we'd made in increasing the numbers for the top 20-30 scorers, but at least we can now go back and tune that in the knowledge that the underlying scoring system is sound. Scoring also tends to be too low in historical games now, particularly post-1970, so that will be looked at as well, although it may be due to more complex database issues that take longer to work out. Injury settings have not been changed to adjust the split between those occurring in practices and in games, but it's now possible to modify those settings separately, so if you want fewer practice injuries and more in-game ones, that can be done. With this second bug-fixing patch done, our focus will now move back to adding/improving features, particularly custom mode, editing options, and online play implementation. That doesn't mean we're not going to address any more bugs (there still a number of reports in our tracking system that need to be addressed), but we'll be balancing that work with the new additions. It will take a while to get any major new features added, so we may decide to issue another bug-fixing patch before those are ready, if we find ourselves with a lot of fixes done and work on the new stuff only partially complete, rather than holding everything back to wait for the big stuff to get finished. Changes/Fixes/Addition List: 1. Never-ending penalties fixed. 2. Crash when offering trade involving draft picks while in historical mode fixed. 3. AI teams should no longer skip draft picks when their protected list is full. 4. Tactics are now saved when user exits game and restarts. 5. AI no longer makes cap-reduction moves for user's team if he doesn't have all "assistant" options off. 6. Player no longer occasionally prevented from signing free agents despite being below payroll. 7. Payroll in custom games should now match salary obligations properly. 8. Playoff games no longer scheduled on back-to-back days. 9. AI now allots time to 3rd PK unit and uses special-teams icetime percentages properly. 10. Shutout leaders now sorted properly, instead of alphabetically. 11. Faceoff leaders now sorted correctly (by percentage, with minimum qualifiers) 12. IR players now counted when checking to see if team is above cap floor. 13. When negotiating salary for free agents, NHL-caliber players will initially expect NHL-caliber wages even when signing in other leagues. 14. Players will sign ask for more or less if they are signing outside/inside their home continent. 15. No more multiple responses after a trade is rejected. 16. No more invalid database error when attempting to launch a quickstart. 17. Expansion teams in historical mode now start with 0-0-0 history instead of all-time total. 18. HNN fixed and restored to game. 19. Overtime penalties now displayed in OT period in boxscore, instead of third period. 20. Injury settings now split between game and practice, both levels editable. 21. Under-20 players whose major junior rights are owned but are contracted to NHL teams can no longer be sent to AHL. 22. Amateur draft in custom games no longer forces user to choose goalies first. 32. When trying to sign players who would exceed foreigner limits, popup now specifies the exact problem, rather than just saying there are too many active players. 33. Clicking on "report" in in-game view should no longer result in crash. 34. Lineups should now update properly when using the in-game stats screen. 35. Norwegian teams should now obey foreign player limits. 36. User's trade window should no longer occasionally default to a different team, making trading impossible. 37. AI should no longer trade away players when using "CPU Finish Draft" in the initial custom league draft. 38. Crash involving duplicated waiver status fixed. 39. Crash in season changeover from 1978 to 1979 fixed. 40. KHL trading deadline now works properly. 41. Loophole allowing foreign player limits to be exceeded by using reserve list fixed. 42. KHL teams no longer get young placeholder players to fill prospect spots at startup. 43. Multi-year contracts in French leagues now set correctly at startup. 44. Skater stats 2 screen now sorts correctly for Faceoffs, Takeaways, Giveaways, and Shootout Goals. 45. Teams in custom leagues with divisions but no conferences now get assigned minor league teams correctly. 46. Addition value bonus for enforcer players now cannot make player's value higher than 7.0. 47. Player portraits now aligned correctly on leaders pages. 48. German league should no longer occasionally schedule multiple playoff games for a team on the same day. 49. Skill penalties for out-of-position players increased. 50. More attributes affected by aging, should significantly cut down number of players remaining effective into their 40's. 56. Shooting range and accuracy adjusted for forwards and defencemen playing out of position. 57. Power play units now include one defenceman spot and one "point" spot, which a player of any position can be used in with no penalty. 58. Assignment of fighting majors adjusted, enforcers should fight more often and regular players less. 59. When negotiating to re-sign players to a two-way deal, minor league salaries can now be set correctly. 60. New player filtering system for several screens: instead of only being filterable by position, player lists can now be filtered by age, ability, potential, position, nationality, and signability. Note that the main player search page (the magnifying glass icon) still requires a text search as well as the filter. 61. Very Slow aging speed no longer switches to Very Fast after exiting the edit screen. 62. User-edited salary caps should no longer revert to default value at start of new season. 68. EIHL teams no longer ignore import player restrictions. 69. Development speed for young goalie4s increased. 70. Freeze at end of 2004-05 season in historical mode no longer occurs. 71. No more redundant injury warnings after injured player has been removed from lineup. 74. JeffR, thanks for the patch, but I am wondering when waivers will be incorporated into the game, so that we can't just send whoever we want down to the minors? Also, same goes for RFA's and offer sheets?

Unless something has changed, waivers were in the game before. I have picked up people off of waivers a few times

Not exactly what I meant. In real life, players eventually become waiver eligible, which means to be sent down to AHL/ECHL, they have to clear waivers, to do so. Currently in game, players are only put on waivers in buyout proceedings. We can always send whoever we want, meaning you never have to make some tough calls on who to keep like the real NHL.

Gustav Nyquist played well most of last year, but he is NOT waiver eligible, so the Wings chose to send him down to start this season, eventhough he is better then some of the ones who got to stay with Detroit. If they had chose to send, for example Mikael Samuelsson to the minors, he would have had to clear waivers, and the Wings would risk losing him for nothing, so they went with Nyquist because he did not have to clear waivers. In the game currently you could send Sidney Crosby to the minors, without risking losing him, eventhough in real life he would have to clear waivers, which of course he wouldn't and someone else would pick him up for free.

Jeff, also wondering why so many young unproven players, refuse two way deals, when those are the norm in the NHL for unproven talent, that will likely spend most of their time in the minors.

You may think I'm stupid or something but what I am saying is that there was 2 people on waivers when I started the game. If they are in eaivers, doesn't that mean they are trying to send them down? I havebt tried it but if players are in waivers, then it seems to work, at least somewhat.
I know how waivers work in real life btw but thanks fir the lesson. So waivers aren't working as intended? I have no problem with sending players down and have tried to send guys down that say that they have to clear waivers to go to the ahl so I just am not sure what the problem is Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk now Free |

It is telling you players must clear waivers first? For me the only time I see players go to waivers, is if either I, or the AI try and buyout a player, then it first automatically sends them on waivers. Other then that, they aren't working as they should. I also can send whoever I want down, but that is not the way it should work.

Overtime/Shootout wins still seem to give goalies losses in the OT/L column.

You can send him down no problem as far as I'm aware. Haven't played as NJD, but any of the teams I have controlled, veterans went down without clearing.

Just started a new game with the 1.3.13 build, took the Penguins and tried to send down Kunitz to the AHL. A message popped up asking me if wanted to put Kunitz on waivers. So I guess waivers work as intended?

Hi and thx for the release,
I noticed that trying to sign prospects when playing for a NHL team is very difficult as no-one agree to a two-way contract ! For instance playing with the canadiens, i succeeded to trade away Drewiske to Washington for the rights of Samuel Carrier a promising (5.5/8.0) 21 years old RD (and a Quebec born player ^^) ... When i tried to sign him, he refused a two way contract ! Annoying ! cause those kind of players did agree before this patch !
