My thoughts on the new patch

I wrote down some thoughts:

-Too many coaches who gets fired
-Too many good players on waivers and free agents
-Too easy
-Players outside NHL doesnt improve (i know Jeff confirmed that this is a bug and will be fixed in the next patch)
-RFA players demand too much
-There is a "Olympic break" every year

Believe me, i want nothing but a good game so thats the reason why i post my impressions. I believe this game have big potential and become a good hockey game in the next 3-4 years.

While I don't blame people for complaining about bugs, I definitely feel that some are more worthy of attention than others. For example, an "olympic break" each year is just mildly annoying but, IMO, has no significant impact on the game. OTOH, proper player development and the updating of the development stats without resigning is a major issue that should get some immediate attention.

I just think we need to put things into perspective here. This is a terribly ambitious sim and probably should have been released with fewer leagues, features, etc. That said, what they've accomplished is damn impressive and if they concentrate on the key issues the minor stuff will, hopefully, follow in due time. I'm prepared to be patient. After all, I've been a fan of Europa Universalis for years and that game was released incomplete every time and required months and months of patches just to make it playable. I think this is just the nature of software development tday.... the games are sooooo complex that few companies can afford to do all the development and beta-testing prior to releasing and getting some income flowing back in while they work out the remainder of the bugs. I've come to accept this, albeit reluctantly, and with a smaller company I am much more understanding.

I havent been complaining? I thought we was supposed to post our impressions and ideas here on the forums? The olympic break is mildly annoying i know that. But i thought it was better to tell them everything i thought about it instead of leaving it out.

Like i said, i want a good hockey game too. I still like to play this game and it is heading into right direction. In 5 years this game will kick EHMs butt i think. So dont come here and say that i complain, please.

Touchy, eh? So you defend your position by saying you're just voicing your impressions but that is what I was doing as well. Or am I not allowed to play too? If not would you let me know when I'm allowed in your exclusive club.

As an aside next time actually read the message you're replying to as I've already answered some of what you've written. Moreover, I wasn't even speaking to you specifically (I didn't copy and reply to your post, just the thread in general) but to "people.". Or do you think or yourself in the royal "we"?

One last time: I didn't say YOU complained about anything, I said "people" as I had read the same "complaint" in another thread. And anyway, why are you so damn touchy about the word "complaint" or "complain"? Here is the no.2 definition of "complain" for you:

In other words mentioning the problems that are currently inherent in this program is to register a COMPLAINT.

So while I didn't indicate that it was you complaining per se, you did complain about bugs and there was nothing wrong with that. I do think you're arguing over nothing, however, and there is something a bit odd about that. Of course I've engaged you at length on this point so I must being going mad myself......

On the actual topic at hand: I like the new patch quite a bit but when I started a new league I found the draft was empty at the end of the second year. This was a major disappointment as I thought it was fixed. Perhaps I misunderstood what was being described but history mode is really my primary interest in this game, so I'm my less interested in playing until that part is fixed.

Again, i did not complain about any bugs. I am not mad about it. I just wanted them to know my thoughts. I am not one of those who complains and thinks that we payed for a unfinished product.

I played 1.6.8 today. Only one season though.

They have fixed a lot of things that i mentioned in the beginning of this thread. Only thing is that the players outside NHL still does not improve. Hopefully this can be fixed to next patch (new match engine/tactical engine patch).
Maybe some players still demand too much. Stastny wanted 7 million/6 yrs even though he is only playing in second line and doesnt get as much ice time as players like Duchene and Landeskog.

Otherwise i think the new patch fixed a lot of other stuff. Havent tried historical mode yet. I will start one when the new patch is coming. I am excited for that one.

Hi Swedish. Welcome to the boards.

I really don't think AEWHistory meant to insult or attack you. You're most welcome to post your wishes, requests, comments, etc for the game, but please try not to take too much offense from the posts of others. It's just not healthy. When someone I think criticizes me I might reconsider what I said or I might not, but regardless I try not to get too bothered by it. I used to easily get worked by things, but eventually I realized it's just not worth it.

I look forward to seeing your future thoughts on the game.
