Help starting a dynasty

Hey all, i'm going to start a new FHM14 dynasty here, I just need a little help choosing a team! The three options i'm thinking of would be:

1) My favorite team (Chicago)
2) Choosing a team from whom fired there GM the season before (if any available)
3) Starting unemployed and working my way up that way.

Whichever I choose, what starting reputation would be best? I'm a little hesitant on greenhorn and inexperience because it might be too long of a climb. Also, how is getting offers while already on a team? I've ran some tests and haven't gotten much, if any at all.

I'm looking forward to hearing your responses!

Lowest rep would be ok if you intend to climb up from say the Euro leagues. Don't pick it if starting pretty high up though!

Dont necessarily know if I'd move up the Euro leagues... I be an American (somewhat obviously) so I feel like it would be more realistic if I stayed in the U.S. or Canada.

EDIT: But, thats always an option if theres enough interest on it!

Start Big...

If this is your first Dynasty - I'd agree with deanwells1234... Toronto is a big franchise and plenty of money to throw around. We all mess it up badly our first time around - and you don't want to be the lower leagues the first time you play. The parent club moves players often and if your AHL or ECHL coach/mgr it can be frustrating to put a competitive team on ice. And don't even get me started about the financials happening down there...

Just my $.02... since you asked!

As of right now, becoming the GM of the Leafs is the top option. Im looking to start this up soon, so i think ill give this a bit more time. Latest deadline is tomorrow at 3:30 Central Time.

What year are you referring to? The 2013-14 season or this current season?

12-13 was Burke's last year as TOR GM. His replacement Dave Nonis was hired January 9th 2013 So it's recent as you can get for the purposes of this game.

Buffalo is a weak team in FHM and a nice one to rebuild as they have never won the cup. Darcy Regier was fired Nov 2013.

But can't go wrong with the Leafs! Like Burke said, if you build a stanley cup winning team in Toronto they will name schools after you! Building a dynasty you would be a legend...and don't forget where the HHOF is located

Starting in the Canadian Hockey League to start I always find fun, then moving on to the NHL from there.

Not entirely disagreeing with you here, but I find Buffalo a 3 year end game no matter how well I do. I have cherry picked the AI all star waivers and signed to my credit limit, I made the playoffs in three years and got bounced in the opening round (damn Flyers again!) and then promptly got fired by the psychotic owner... I even tried keeping the homegrown talent and drafting my way back, NOPE - Donald Trump'ed again! So after a half dozen tries I avoid them like the plague - and watch the AI do well with them... It's just not fair... <grin>

Looks like I'll be starting a dynasty with the Maple Leafs! My dynasty will start at the default date.

What do you all think the starting rep should be? Because Moore, for some reason I feel like your starting rep with the Sabers was on something really low and thats why they would fire you.

EDIT: Also, posts will be somewhat slow. I plan to have some frequent "press conference" posts where you all can PM me any questions just like a real reporter would. And ill answer them on that following post.

IIRC with an existing team when you enter your name the experience gets set to automatic (which is greenhorn) so your evaluations and training is bad (virtually nil) and you have to build it up from scratch. I just seem snakebit with the Sabres, I do well with Edmonton and Ottawa and NYI, Now Florida is a strange team - the owner is similar to Buffalo in he foolishly believes his team is playoff capable right now... but I digress... <grin>

I "think" if you put your name in the GM/Coach spot - it defaults to auto when you start. if you left the name as Joe Average then you could select the level of experience. My memory is faulty but I know it defaulted on me with the Dynasty - Florida Panthers this time.

give it a shot before you actually start... its easy to delete!

You're right Moore! Even if you put your starting rep to anything higher, the game still gives you greenhorn level stats.
