How would a patch handle things...

I'm just curious... how would a patch result with these types of things if you had customized them.
Does it just overwrite what you've customized, or will it give you a confirmation box or something?

I'd guess it will overwrite what you've customized, but that's not a problem-- just put a copy of your updated .xml in another directory, install the patch, and then replace the patched English.xml with your version.

I figured so. Not like I've customized it, been too busy everywhere else.
Guess anyone who bothered to customize it would be detailed enough to have it in more than just that one spot anyhow... but never know.

Just getting a head start on what I might see after the patch, there's bound to be somebody who'll whine about losing their customized xml.

And it would serve them right for not backing up their work.

Of course, there will be a load of people who would blame it on Marc.

I never back up anything... every time something happens and I lose it my jaw drops, a tear comes to my eye, I shrug my shoulders, and go take a nap.

I think I slept a whole year away at one point.... come to think of it... there's no calendars in my house, I wonder what year it really is....

BTW, "Yes" to all of this.

There's no automatic way to merge your custom changes with an updated XML file.

Always back up any files that you customize!
