Spore: Best Game Ever?

Not sure if anyone has seen this, but this game could be one of the most revolutionary games ever made.

http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...559198&q=spore

Its EVO, SimCity, Civ all rolled into one.

Very Pacmanish, even some old DOS QBASIC Snakes elements in there, can't wait.

I just finished watching the entire 35 minute video.

Amazing concepts. Is there a web site for this game at this point?

http://www.spore.com/

It's too bad there's no forum, 'cause I'd log on and ask when it'll be released every few days.

It looks really cool. What would be extra cool is if eventually you could develop a crazy sporting event for your creatures, and then a text-based computer sim based on that sport. Then you could be able to export that text-based sim and play it.

The possibilities of applying Spore-like concepts to other games is incredible because essentially you have a program which teaches the computer how to generate certain things like movement by itself without creating specific motion caption code.....add in rag doll physics and you have incredible possibilities in creating games that could be played for hundreds of hours and never become repetitive

Wasn't the file size for it ridiculously small as well? Or am I misrecollecting?

Is it an MMO? If so then I have no interest at all.
If it is single player then it does look somewhat interesting.

Not sure if this can be played single player but this is more about using other players created races and planets. I'm sure they could be shared amongst players even if you wanted to play solo.

It's not a MMO, but you can upload worlds to some type of server which other players can download and use to populate their universe... the computer will also pick up on your style of play and use that when others download your worlds.

As for my thoughts on the game, I'm really excited about this after watching that video (I would like to see the end of it, though). Since Will Wright is behind the game that does inspire some confidence in the project for me, but I've been burned by these types of games before so I will definitly not be picking this up on release day... I'll wait for a good share of reviews before I pick it up.

It looks incredibly interesting but it remains to be seen what the real gameplay value is. I'll pick it up, but I'm certainly not ready to give it the best game ever title.

That bothers me as well. It looks like an interesting sandbox sort of game, but it looks like it lacks structure and goals.
Even SimCity had some roundabout goals that you as a player wanted to get to. This new one looks like it has no goal at all besides trying new things and seeing interactions between different things.
I find that I quickly bore of games of this type simply because there is no story or no 'next level' to hold my interest over the course days and weeks.
I will keep an eye out for it, but all the hype so far is never good for any game.
