I wish there was an option to pay a little extra to watch local games, because I dont want to pay for cable, it is to expensive. I rent movies from netflix, and buy tv shows that I like on Itunes or watch them for free on some of the network's websites. So, cable is not a viable option for me, but it seems that if I want to watch the Yankees play, I have to fork over the money for cable tv to watch them. Unless the games are archived, and then can be watched. Is that the case, or will local teams not work at all?
they did last two years.....call them up if you are not sure.

If I recall.. you can usually watch the games about an hour after they played. By that time, I'm already sleeping but yeah, you should be able to watch the games even if they're local.

Well, I was an all-access sub last season, and after logging on to watch today's ST matchups, it seems I've been auto renewed. But I'm not sure if I was auto renewed as a premium sub, considering last season I was "a premium" subcriber to their best package at the time...

Although it seems I am probably going to have to upgrade, as the ST game I activated was streamed at 400kbps...so it's time for some 'splainin to do from MLBAM

About 3 years ago I got mlb.tv and mlb radio free as a Verizon customer when I lived in DC. They had some kind of deal with MSN and MSN had some kind of deal with MLB where if you were an MSN premium subscriber you could watch mlb.tv for free. That was a nice deal since I wasn't paying to be a MSN premium subscriber. I was just paying crappy Verizon to use their crappy DSL.

I've bought the baseball package through my cable company the last two years but it seems now this will be a direct tv thing only so I may have to consider mlb.tv. I just wish I could find a discount or a way to get it free again!

They just sent me an e-mail saying that because I was All-Access last year, I get the Premium coverage this year for the price of the non-premium (I think I got that right).

I have the premium as well and its streaming at 400. I'm betting that the ST games will all be at 400 until the regular season starts.

Thats what I'm thinking too. I am betting they are still upgrading the system during ST.

woohoo. I just got an email saying they will be autorenewing my all-access package. I will be autorenewed with the premium package but at the same price point as the all-access last year. That's twenty free dollars. Perhaps their customer service is improving.

Probably an error on their part.

yeah, but you can't watch a full game until 6am est the following morning. This doesn't seem to apply to spring training games though for some reason.

This isn't working for me (well).

My connection test shows that my connection is good enough. The product demo on the mlb.tv frontpage plays perfectly for me. And as far as I can tell I meet every system requirement and am pretty sure I have the optimal player settings, but . . .

While I get continuous, clear audio, the video inches along. Stuttering is an understatement - it's more like a slideshow with slides changing anywhere from every 2 seconds to every 10. I never get more than a couple seconds of continuous video.

Anybody know what's up? Is there system still getting the kinks worked out (iow, others have the same problem)? Does this simply not work on my computer (yikes, I already subscribed)? Or am I just doing something wrong?

This seems to happen for time to time. I don't know if it's an overloaded server or whatnot but it does happen. It seems to happen a lot more often in spring training so i assume it'll get better. Have you tried watching an archived game?

EDIT: This always seems the worse the first few days of spring training. I think it's because there are so few live games everyone is watching the same feed. If the archived games work fine for you i wouldn't panic. The boston game from earlier today is working perfectly for me at the moment.

Okay, I just read this whole thread an here's my understanding.

1. I don't have to watch live, I can watch games that have already been played. This is important because where I live, a live game would occur at around 7 or 8 in the morning. So I'm not really interested in watching live games.

2. You cannot watch playoff games live but you can watch them in their entirety shortly after they are completed.

3. The only real difference between the regular package and the premium is the player tracker, the mosaic, and the better video bit rate.

Could those in the know please let me know if this is correct or not.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the advice. I messed around with it some more and it seems like I actually fixed it. All I changed was my connection type to "DSL 768kbps" from "Detect my settings (recommended)." Strange that they would do it, but it did and now I am incredibly for baseball.

dola, but what buffer settings should I use? Should I have it auto-detect for me (didn't work well for connection type), or is there a buffer amount that anyone would recommend for this kind of thing. Does the buffer make any difference in archived vs. live? thanks

For those who claim they were renewed, the E-mail I got says that the billing cycle goes around March 15 or so. They also give a link for those who do not wish to renew. That gives you 2 weeks to decide. A little bit of negative billing but not as bad as I thought.

Mosaic was marketed as a beta last year. I'm iffy on it but decided to pony up the money. I hope an earlier poster was right in saying you could drag and drop the six games you want. That would definitely improve the value.
