MLB.tv premium looks sweet!
MLB.com finally announced there new mlb.tv packages for this year, and I highly recommend checking out the premium package, I know I'll be getting it.

I really need to know: mlb.com won't let two people log on with the same subscription at once, will they? That really puts the damper on my brother and I splitting the cost.

There were times when one of us was on that the other couldn't watch though. |

A couple of caveats:
1) Be forewarned this program works on an autorenwal basis on your credit card, even if you get the "annual" subscription. 2) Last year, the "all access" ended at the end of Nov, forcing subscribers to pay for the offseason. It appears premium runs until next Feb but I want to call them first about that. 3) Lots of blackouts for your local team. Works for me because I travel all the time but for some, it may not be worth the money. That being said, despite the way I hate they treat their customers, its a good product and the quality if very good if you are a baseball nut. |

If I wasn't planning on getting extra innings again this would be something I'd definitely get. The new Mosaic view looks awesome and the 700k feed would be enough reason for me to get this over the regular package.
edit: is it a bad sign that I haven't been able to get the 700k demo to load all day? Last edited by edm; 02-18-2007 at 10:09 PM. |

I understand the local blackouts for the video, but that doesn't apply to the audio, right? The audio is included in mlb.tv premium and regular, I believe.

I'm debating about getting the standard or premium. If i like the premium is only because the high stream quallity (700 vs 400) as i don't care that much about mosaic (I'll watch most of the games the following day because the time differences make it impossible to me to watch them live).
What really sucks is that they make you pay again to watch the post season. |

I had MLB.tv (or its equivalent) in 2004 and 2005 - it's great being in the UK because we don't get blacked out at any point and we get a choice at WS time because Channel 5 show it.
What is the deal with the blackouts in the US? Not being up on the TV market over there does it cost a lot (over $20 a month) to subscribe to your local sports channel? I recall that when I was in Boston and New York the hotel TV always had coverage of the Sox-Yankees match (I've been to Boston three times and New York twice and it's always been during a Sox-Yankees series though I've always been in the wrong city to see it if I would have been able to get a ticket that is). Is it part of a base-level subscription? We can get MLB games on regular season TV but it comes on Setanta NASN and costs £15 ($29.50 or so) a month and you can only see the games they choose. In fact as long as MLB don't sign exclusivity rights with a UK broadcaster we over here will get the best of these deals ![]() Now do I go for regular or premium this year? |

Wait a sec... um... wasn't Mosaic a part of their regular package last year? Now it's premium and costs $20 more than last year? Ugh. Let alone that they didn't implement it last year until nearly June after advertising it as "coming soon" since March. And when I called to cancel for that reason (I was autorenewed against my will), I was actually told that I couldn't because I "clearly" didn't order it just for Mosaic!!
Anyway, keep in mind if like last year, Mosaic can't be customized so you're stuck with the group of 6 games that happen to line up together and can't pick and choose which 6 you watch at a time. |
